Comment in question 28-01-2008 16:39 Do Science not Spin Post #11 - Duncan, thank you for your well-intentioned and seemingly (at first glance) quite reasonable professional advice. Unfortunately you are quite INCORRECT from a Popperian scientific methodology perspective. As a scientist for over 40 years I am well aware that the fundamental scientific methodology is the "critical testing of potentially falsifiable hypotheses" as famously analyzed by Sir Karl Popper. Accordingly, as a scientist and an anti-racist humanitarian writer (certainly NOT a "journalist" as currently existentially defined in the present racist, lying, holocaust-ignoring Mainstream media obscenity of the Western Murdochracies) I follow the scientific methodology of "critically testing potentially falsifiable hypotheses" and ESCHEW the all-too-common method of anti-science SPIN involving the selective use of asserted facts to support a partisan position. Accordingly your "even-handed" advice to "gather evidence to prove it's right and that you are wrong" is profoundly FLAWED. The general methodology for those seeking the truth is NOT about proving things right (anti-science spin) but rather attempting to prove things WRONG (Science). After 4 decades of doing it RIGHT I CERTAINLY don't need to be told how to do things INCORRECTLY. Guest |
