Free media !

Hello Maria , yes, colonialism and free media don't go along with each other. Colonialism needs media as a handy tool to legitimize its aggression and rampage.  
Imagine a so called democratic government that allows a wide space of free speaking and this government has happened to invade another sovereign country, what will happen? Simply they will quell free voices and intimidate journalists , and they may go further and shoot at media men in hot spots of news , like what happened and is happening in Iraq.
