I'm glad that you are so concerned about the safety of our people, Ace. I would be happy if none of our soldiers ever had to die in combat ever again but that isn't reality. Bush didn't have to lie about WMD's because every credible foreign intelligence service in the world believed that Saddam had them. Bush believed this too. But these are all old arguments that are moot. The point is that we are there NOW and must not abandon our brothers in Iraq at this dire moment. As long as we stick to our guns and realize that this reconstruction will take time and patience, the job will be done right. That means we should keep several permanent bases in Iraq. After all, we still have them in Japan and Germany. And with all the oil in Iraq, it makes good strategic sense.
