What you speak of, in a way reflects some of my thoughts. People are born into a situation. They accept the dogma of their family religion. The politics of their society. The culture of their race. And they know they are right on all matters. And sadly when a flash of insight comes they fall back into the arms of their dogma, instead of having the courage to embrace that insight. 
After all knowing you are right,(God is with us). Will justify anything one does to others who lack your greatness. 
Well something like that.
