Anti-racist humanists, Left and REAL Lef

Excellent article, Ben. A major problem with the neo-con propagandists is their singularly focussed FALSE use of language in their typical ad hominem abuse of civilized human beings. 
 
Thus the use of the term "Left" to describe anti-racist, humanitarian US College professors who decry mass murder, war crimes, genocide, ethnic cleansing and all the other horrendous neo-con crimes - ignoring the REALITY that they are MOSTLY otherwise millionaires, live in 2 story palaces and have highly profitable investments. As high consumers and travellers they are major greenhouse gas polluters, even though many may well buy "Green power" and drive hybrid cars (e.g. a wonderful and outstanding visiting US scholar I recently had the privilege of looking after Downunder). 
 
Indeed, by way of PERSONAL CONFESSION, while I believe in "all men are created equal and have an inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"; believe in the State ensuring that ALL children have equal educational and vocational opportunity and that ALL citizens have access to affordable medical assistance; and am generous in my time and money in support of these ideals - my "happiness" is heavily dependent on the New York Stock Exchange and I have no complaints about my 20% equity-based pension-fund wealth appreciation (compounded) in recent years (except, perhaps, that it looks like the Bull party may be over for a while and the Three Bears will have to husband their Soup more carefully).  
 
And yet ignorant, abusive, neo-con fanatics accuse me and people such as myself of being "Left"!
