Fear.
Oregon,
My memory serves me well enough, I remember reports coming out of Iraq shown on television, of street scenes , cafes, coffee shops, of people walking around in a relaxed manner. Women dressed in a variety of ways , when asked about Saddam their dictator, they hiding there faces, made the the comment in general that they took no real notice of him, they thought he was, what one might call a nut case and he was dangerous. This was at the time when the deathly storm clouds of war were gathering around Iraq.
There were no suicide bombers in Iraq then, no enforced dress codes (now enforced by thugs), you could openly practice Christianity, pretty tricky now. Iraq was a secular country then, now fringe religions are victimized, these people are leaving Iraq in droves.
We all know Saddam killed and victimized those he saw as threats.
But through US sanctions there was much death in that country, after the invasion there developed an epidemic of deaths. Do you challenge Dr.Gideon\\\'s death count, if you do, supply the numbers.
You cannot put the blame on Iraq, if you do you are blind to your own powers of deduction.
If a lunatics moves into a house he, she, will infect all around her/him in that house, it is about time folks used their own powers of observation and deduction.
I think fear of the truth stops them.
