Societal security means free media
Dictator Musharraf is seriously endangering the SECURITY of Pakistan by his WRONG and INCOMPETENT abuse of power, imprisonmment of critics, cessation of democracy and curtailing of information flow and effective free speech via the media.

Risk management is fundamental to Man and human organizations and societies in general - but it fundamentally requires correct information, sensible analysis and implementation of changes to minimize risk. In society this crucially requires freedom of information and free speech through organizations, universities, media and parliaments.

In its most effective form it is seen in the Rational Risk Management that successively involves (a) getting accurate data, (b) scientifc analysis (involving the critical testing of potentially falsifiable hypotheses)and (c) systemic chnage to minimize risk of harm. Applied successfully in aviation this sort of protocol has
made air travel extremely safe.

This sort of protocol can be summarized as \"learn, think, do\" (a surgeon recently gave me their operating equivalent of \"see, do, teach\").

Unfortunately this rational risk management protocol is perverted by politicians to (a) lies, censorship, intimidation, self-censorship, (b) anti-science spin involving use of asserted facts to support a partisan position, and (c)\"blame and shame\" of suitable vicitms with no systemic change and unaltered or indeed increased risk of harm.

Politicians who variously pervert rational risk management as outlined above - whether military dictators such as Musharraf or Rupert Murdoch-approved, democratically elected Western Bush-ite politicians like Bush, Harper, Blair and Howard - are ENDANGERING the societies they govern
by subverting a fundamental requisite of \"learn, think, do\" to minimize societal risk.

It is frequently these very dictators and truth-averse neo-con politicians who bleat \"security\" and beat the \"security drum\" who are actually seriously threatening societal security by deliberately preventing or subverting rational societal discussion (remember the Bush-ite lies about Iraqi WMD that led to the falsely applied \"blame and shame\" to Iraq with a consequent estimated 1.5-2.0 million post-invasion excess deaths in Occupied Iraq) (see: 2 million Iraq War deaths.
