That old one.
Here in OZ all tax payers pay a medicare levy according to their income, some exceptions for hardship. Now I have blue ribbon medical/hospital cover, why? Because I can afford it and desire it.
But there is no citizen of this country without medical cover it is universal, no 25% uninsured as in the US.
And I will let you into a secret, I do not mind paying some extra levy so that the poor and the homeless the low wage earners those in debt etc, have no fear of the dreaded medical bill.
Our last prime minister, who was an ultra conservative, said more than once, \\\"... you don\\\'t want a health care system like America(US)\\\", I could not stand the bloke, but he was spot on there.
I said in another thread, basically, \\\"how can a nation that has been taught from the cradle not to have compassion for there fellow man, help themselves?\\\".
Being civilized is not about power, it\\\'s about caring and helping, and organizing a fair society.
Sir outside the box, the US is seen as a cruel heartless society ask around and you will find this to be true.
