US control.

Reading about the fall of the Whitlam Government, an event I remember well enough, just a small paste below, for readers of this thread, with people of the US and Australia in mind:

Where does this place any Government of Australia? As an obsequious servant of the US,(Sheriff fits well) ?

What Australian Government is going to stand up to the US? 
It appears Rudd will not; it seems to me that there is no perceivably way out from the choking coils of the Imperial Serpent. But of course the imperceivable does sometimes happen. Staying with metaphors, maybe the snakes head will be cut of. 
By the way john, I think all empires are criminal.
