Actually I believe Hitler loved dogs. 
These Christians seemed to have overlooked the true message of Luke: 29-37. 
If they think it is about doing good for others. Then they have missed the point, it is about compassion that crosses the race creed divide. 
Also to give and receive. 
Think of Katrina. 
"Which one of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor.....?" 
After all the Jews and Samaritans just did not get along to put it mildly.
