Maybe, Rachel, you will write the same kind of stuff concerning past (and future?) US Olympics? Austrialian? Wherever. Get it together and bash your own country as you bash one you've never been to and only have 2nd hand (and yellow-journaled) information on. I could not say Atlanta, GA was any more humane than Beijing--before or after the games.  
Also: explain to me the NBC exclusive when ABC and CCTV-5 (the sports channel) have a deal for televising/supporting the Olympics. 
You want to know what was the most disgusting bit of the opening? GWB lounging back bored like a frat brat during the ceremonies...until the US team marched in. Jeeee-zus! These opening ceremonies were astounding and put anything done at LA or anywhere else to shame--and they did it without the little shit Spielberg.without
