Comment in question 09-08-2008 19:58 Oil. Oh I like that link. Actually I was thinking while reading this article, that the US, the bastion of capitalism, is also the worlds greatest interventionists. The old there, \'is only two ways to do anything the American way and the wrong way\', and woe-betide any nation who wants to practice alternative social and economic models, comes to light. Britain is a country that is going into wind powered generation of electricity in a big way. That makes sense plenty of wind around those islands. Australia is going that way too, also natural gas, and thermal generation. I think in Europe solar furnaces are coming on line. But of course that is the wrong way! Common sense would say that if demand for a commodity drops, then its price would drop, isn\'t that capitalism? I would not mind betting that the greatest resistance to alternative energy, will come from the oil corporations and their pet politicians. Actually I\'ve come to the realization there are many 19th century thinkers in the US. Mike Registered |
