Not to Mention Iran
Mentioning Iran would have further strengthened your argument. Iran is not only not threatening the U.S. (or Israel), it does not have the weapons to do so or much prospect of getting them in the near future and has even denied having any such plans. Nevertheless, it is continually being threatened with preventive attack - i.e., not punishment for transgressions but aggression to prevent it from committing a transgression in the future. Come to think of it, taking Bush's remarks on Georgia at face value suggests a dramatic reversal of policy toward Iran. I wonder if Tehran will see it that way...
