Ah, yes. Peruvians are poor because of our “wasteful lifestyle and  
overconsumption”.  
 
This is the old “pie” philosophy: Others have less because of those who are taking too much out of the pie.  
 
Let us look at this philosophy. Presume that she decided not to take any more trips to Peru because she decide to  
eliminate \"overconsumption” and “wasteful” spending. Next year, the tour guide that she had previously hired would be even poorer because she would not be giving a portion of her wealth to him.  
 
Although she states that “[t]he answer is evident”, she does state what that “evident” solution is.  
 
 
Other than taking a close-up bus tour of these poor countries and implying that we eliminate our “wasteful lifestyle” and “over consumption”, she did not say what individuals should be doing. She did not say what she personally did (other than writing a blurb about it).  
 
Did she sell all of her  
\"excessive\" possessions and empty her bank account of \"excessive\" wealth to go to Peru to create a business and, hence, jobs for these unemployable people?
