Comment in question 09-11-2008 22:41 Obama ignores human rights abuses Excellent article by Professor Marjorie Cohn. All decent folk desperately hope that she is right and that Obama will deliver on human rights, the most fundamental of which for born humans is the right to life. The statistics she quotes are appalling: \"In the United States [population 300 million], more than 10 million people are unemployed, 2 to 3 million families are homeless each year, and 46 million have no health care benefits. Untold numbers lost their retirement savings when the stock market crashed.\" To these we can add the statistics that 1 million Americans die avoidably each year from a variety of causes from Guns to lack of Health Insurance (see: Carbon Burning, Zionism & War Kill 1 million Americans Yearly; that violent and non-violent post-invasion excess deaths in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories total 2 million and 4-6 million, respectively (see 9-11 Excuse for US Global Genocide. The real 9-11 atrocity: Millions (9-11 million) Dead in Bush Wars); that global avoidable mortality (currently 16 million dead annually) is increasingly impacted by Climate Change, with the US, Canada and White Australia the major annual per capita Developed World fossil fuel-derived greenhouse gas polluters (see: MAN-MADE, CO2-DRIVEN GLOBAL WARMING SCIENCE INFORMATION ). Unfortunately Obama ignored all of these matters (except Health Care) in his campaign; he resolutely ignores the carnage of the Iraqi Genocide (2 million post-invasion excess deaths) and the Afghan Genocide (4-6 million post-invasion excess deaths); and his first actions so far have been to appoint the Israeli-American (dual citizen?) Zionist extremist son of a former member of the Zionist Irgun terrorist organization as his Chief of Staff and to threaten destruction of Iran (a remote and peaceful country that unlike nuclear terrorists states of Israel and the US has consistently opposed nuclear weapons in the Middle East).
