People seem to accept almost any thing, as long it is presented to them with a religious handle, patriotic bullshit, lots of God blesses, and political chest thumping. 
I think Thomas Merton was right regarding society. As he put it, \"... we have become zombies dead bodies moved by evil spirits...we cannot distinguish between false and true.. with the mental bombardment everybody lives under it is not possible to see straight...We want to break free, but we do not know where to begin.\" 
You see see sir, how does one awaken the dead? 
The US does not want to loose control over the nations and it\'s own people, it is the flagship of a huge corporate empire, it thinks it just has to keep people zombie-fide, ultimately it will fail, as all empires have fallen.
