It walks like a Duck
Code pink were closer to the mark than they believed in quoting Congressman Emanuel Cleaver who said "It's hard to stand up to such a popular president.". Not that any of them WANT to stand up to Obama, it's just that Obama's popularity gives them cover to coalesce in all the sordid activities of the US administration - which are no different to when Bush was in office.

The capitalists who own american democracy have stage managed things in perfect tune to the american mind - trained to see what the candy-gloss says they should see. So Obama ia the irn fist of Bush in a velvet glove and it will be two terms of office before americans realise what the rest of the world saw before the election - change isn't coming soon.

The sad truth is, yes, the majority of americans don't give a hoot for anything beyond their borders other than A) their government and capitalists can extract from it what they want and B) it doesn't come and retaliate.

But the irony is that you make the rules while you have power that you will suffer by when you have lost it. The time will come when the empire crumbles and that day may not be far off. The US has made a lot of enemies on the way up and most of them will have little concern for the human rights of americans when the wheels fall off the empire.
