Great Info Sherwood,
Have a little first had knowledge on the coorprate prison system. I live in a beach community where many of my neighbors were drug users and what you saw perioticly was when beds became available at the jails, probation officers sprang surprise visits on citizens on probation. Drug tested them. If the failed, carted them off for probation violation and filled those beds. Like the aricle said these jails are payed on a per inmate, per day fee. The whole policy is retarted. I saw people, neighbors who were sitting at home watching tv and if the smoked a joint while they did that or anytime thrity days earlier they were going to jail.
Could use some more hard numbers on the actual spenditure of all the agentcies involved. All law enforcement, Fed,State& Local. All the court and prison cost. Add in the anything else the tax payers pay for everytime we put a sorry sole in jail. Like that single mom and the kids as they go on assistance because dad goes to jail. What\'s the real bottom line vs taxes collected on drugs and state sponsered treatment for those who want help. null
