I agree with Mr.Makdisi, and find his article both well-written and timely. 
 
But I should like to add that not only should the question of recognizing Israel's right to exist not be asked of the Palestinians, it shouldn't be asked of anyone, for the simple reason that Israel has no right to exist in the first place. 
 
States founded by foreign colonists who ethnically cleanse the land they take over can't have a real right to exist, other than the one established by military might. But no moral or rational right.
