'That's not who we are'

I am willing to grudgingly admit that Obama “got his man.”  Of course, I still stick to my motto, “Never believe anything our government says until it has been officially denied.”  What I objected to primarily was the part of his statement referring to the death photo of Osama, “That’s not who we are…You know, we don’t trot out this stuff as trophies.”

Of course that was not the real reason for withholding proof of death.

The actual concern was “It is very important for us to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody who was shot in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence — as a propaganda tool.”—a  far more justifiable excuse, if not one I accept.

That was the same excuse used to try to minimize the flood of “trophy photos” taken by our Iraqi liberators of their hapless victims in that conflict.

That was the excuse for not releasing the second wave of Abu Ghraib stills and videos that showed children being sodomized and women being sexually assaulted by Amerikan soldiers.

This is also the reason Bradley Manning is catching so much shit for releasing the classified video of that helicopter assault on unarmed civilians and a rescue vehicle in Iraq.

Sorry Obama, that IS who we are: a nation of war criminals—including you.

The world knows that.  Only the US citizen sleeps on in his stupor and wet-dreams of Rambo and 1776.
