Hiroshima's 60th Anniversary and Crunch-time for Nukes in Iran

An Opportunity or Just More Handwringing from the Peace Movement?

[The thoughts below are speculative and opinionated, with most supporting evidence omitted for brevity. The purpose is to generate comment, rebuttal, and a wide, even undisciplined, variety of ideas -- with no off-the-wall or weird ideas barred -- on how the world might work toward a solution of the nuclear proliferation problem that afflicts mankind more seriously with each passing year. ImageCENTRAL ASIAN BACKLASH AGAINST US FRANCHISED REVOLUTIONS

After a meeting on 5 July in the Kazakh capital Astana, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in a statement called on USA to spell out a deadline for withdrawal of its troops and military hardware from the region. The SCO, which was constituted as Shanghai Five at China’s initiative in 1995, is now composed of, apart from China and Russia, the central Asian Republics (CARs) of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan .India, Iran and Pakistan, who attended the summit in Astana have joined it as observers.

Billy Graham's Final Crusade

ImageEighty six year old Mr. Billy Graham has given a final grand Evangelical Christian Crusade. Known in his hey-day as 'Charles Atlas with a halo', the Reverend Graham, who now has trouble with eyesight, hearing and speech, and broke both his hip and pelvis in two separate falls last year, told reporters before his appearance last week at packed Flushing Meadows stadium in New York, that his death could happen at 'any day', and that he and his wife were 'looking forward to heaven and meeting God face to face.'

A bit presumptuous, perhaps? Mr. Graham may be in for a bit of a surprise...

HUGE HUMAN COST OF ISRAEL

HUGE HUMAN COST OF ISRAEL BUT INTERIM PEACE IS POSSIBLE

ImageUsing UN Population Division data [1] it has been possible to calculate the avoidable mortality (technically, excess mortality) for every country in the World since 1950. Avoidable mortality (excess mortality) is the difference between the ACTUAL mortality in a country and the mortality EXPECTED for a decently-run country with the same demographics [2]. The post-1950 avoidable mortality has totalled 1.3 billion for the World, 1.2 billion for the non-European World and 0.6 billion for the Muslim World (a Muslim Holocaust indeed). These horrendous figures are corroborated by independent calculations of under-5 infant mortality for every country in the World since 1950 - thus the total comes to 0.9 billion of which all but 25 million deaths have occurred in the non-European World and about 90% have been avoidable.

ABOLISH MONEY!

ImageMoney, which has hitherto been the root, if not of all evil, of great injustice, oppression, and misery to the human race, making some slavish producers of wealth, and others its wasteful consumers or destroyers, will be no longer required to carry on the business of life: for as wealth of all kinds will be so delightfully created in greater abundance than will ever be required, no money price will be known, for happiness will not be purchasable, except by a reciprocity of good actions and kind feelings.
