SALT Letter to Obama

Dear Mr. President:

The Society of American Law Teachers—SALT-- applauds the long awaited release of four additional operational memos on interrogation methods, issued by the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) during the prior administration.  The release of these documents demonstrates a courage and fortitude that honors the United States and the restoration of the rule of law.  But acknowledging the actions taken is not enough.

The NDP and the big lie about Israel

Dear Ms. James,

As Jewish British Columbians we were disappointed and angered by your treatment of newly-chosen Kensington candidate Mable Elmore regarding comments she made some years ago about the difficulty of dealing with Zionists in her union when trying to organize around peace issues. We want you to know that we are not at all offended by Mable's remarks but rather by your response to them, which we think does a disservice both to Jews and the community as a whole.

CBC's Red Pride and Prejudice

Not long ago, I would have been happy to speak out in defence of the CBC.  I grew up with CBC and always considered it one of the superior broadcasters in the western world.

Degradation of Public Health Systems in Afghanistan and Iraq

As commander-in-chief of the military, former President George W. The United Nations Calls for a Renewed Commitment to Promote Women’s Rights in Iraq

Baghdad/Amman, 8 March 2009 - On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the United Nations calls for both commitment and effective practical measures to protect and promote rights of Iraqi women. Years of violence, internal conflict and wars have slowed progress towards equality for Iraqi women, and compromised their fundamental rights to education, healthcare, work and full political participation.
