Exit Afghanistan and Leave Iran Alone
Op_ed
By Sheldon Richman

The Obama administration’s quest to control the health-insurance industry has dominated the headlines for months, but finally — with the news out of Iran and Afghanistan —foreign policy has again asserted itself. It was almost easy to forget that the United States maintains a worldwide empire, but the reminders came leaping off the front pages and the television screens.

Following in the footsteps of his predecessors, President Barack Obama is threatening to impose even stricter sanctions on Iran, in an attempt to bend Iranian leaders to his will.

PM Netanyahu’s UN Speech - The Pathology of Evil
Op_ed
By Gilad Atzmon

Israeli PM Netanyahu’s speech at the UN is a major insight into the Israeli’s mentality,  psyche and logic. In his speech Netanyahu, a prolific and charismatic speaker, gives air to his genocidal inclinations, he brings to light the Israeli supremacy but he also allows us to detect some shaky and vulnerable spots at the heart of the Jewish national narrative.

Goldstone’s Report; A Different Look
Op_ed
By Elias Akleh

Goldstone’s report, incriminating Israel for war crimes, has been optimistically received by many as a sign of dismantling Israel’s impunity from legal actions for her war crimes and violations of international laws.  Yet, at the same time, it is full of political booby-traps that Israel could use to indemnify herself and turn the blame onto Palestinians. Besides equating the Palestinian victims with the genocidal Israeli criminals, and denying them of their moral humanitarian right of self-defense, the report also grossly ignores historical events, distorts reality, and legalizes Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Iranian Nuclear Dispute: Resolution, not Humiliation
Op_ed
By William deB. Mills

Treatment by American writers of recent official Washington opinion about the state of Iran's nuclear development seems curious. According to the New York Times, Washington now sees Iran as having the ability to start weaponizing uranium but as voluntarily not taking that step, a situation the Times portrays as raising tensions!

A Modest Health-Care Proposal
Op_ed
By Sheldon Richman

Enough dithering! President Obama says it’s time to act on health care. I agree.

But act how? Are we really going to be happy with the pussy-footing proposals floating around Congress? All the so-called reformers want to do is tinker with insurance regulations. But how effective would that be, considering that the insurance companies themselves support the changes?
