England’s Daily Express reported on August 4 that “thousands of the worst families in England are to be put in ‘sin bins’ in a bid to change their bad behavior.” Ed Balls, the Children’s Secretary, has announced a 400 million pound plan to put Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in 20,000 homes in Britain, says the Express, “to ensure that children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals.” Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 492

For eight years, the Bush administration relentlessly targeted Muslim, environmental, and animal rights activists as national security or terrorist threats. Shamefully, Obama continues the same practice. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 621

The depth and perversity of my cynicism knows no bounds these days. Only past experience gives me reason to believe that, in the words of Lilly Tomlin, “No matter how cynical you become, you can never keep up.” Comments (3) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 770

If you are sick and tired of war in the Middle East you may be cringing at the prospect of new military operations in Latin America. Barack Obama is an extraordinary politician, but not even he can defy the laws of economics and logic. Obama promises that with enough power government will (1) ensure that everyone has the wherewithal to buy ample medical services, (2) lower the price of care, but (3) not interfere with our choices. Organizations like Physicians for a National Health Program want Americans to have the same system in place in all other Western countries and elsewhere, including Venezuela, South Korea, Japan, Cuba, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. But not in America - the only industrialized country without it despite spending more than double per capita than the other 30 OECD countries and delivering less for it. OBAMA SAYS DR. KING PAVED HIS WAY BUT KING WOULD REJECT OBAMA’S WARS In his rousing speech to the NAACP, President Obama praised the civil rights leaders of the past whose sacrifices “began the journey that has led me” (to the White House). He neglected to mention, however, that the majority of those civil rights leaders, most notably Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., opposed the war in Viet Nam and, if they were alive today, likely would decry his escalation of the war in Afghanistan.
