In the latest attack in the central Karrada district, a car bomb killed 19 people in an explosion at a market, three of them policemen. Twenty-three people were also wounded. The bomb sent up clouds of black smoke and was followed by bursts of gunfire. In another attack in central Baghdad, four people died and 20 were hurt when a motorcycle blew up in a busy market. The motorcycle was parked at the side of the street at the entrance of Shurja market, police said. Earlier three people were killed and 10 wounded by a roadside bomb in Baya'a in western Baghdad. A another car bomb also hit the Mureidi market on Thursday afternoon in Sadr City, a Shia stronghold in northeast Baghdad. There was no immediate information on casualties.
