It's Snowing Doom
 
Here in Chicago at le musée de la science et de l'industrie there is now a Spitfire hanging as if poised in mid-flight; tomorrow one of two Stukas left on earth goes up in front of it, tail gunner and pilot just reacting to the presence of the British fighter.

Which brings me to the scrotum-shriveler of the day:

"America ‘poised to strike at Iran’s nuclear sites’ from bases in Bulgaria and Romania"

This is from the Sunday Herald of Scotland.

"PRESIDENT BUSH is preparing to attack Iran's nuclear facilities before the end of April and the US Air Force's new bases in Bulgaria and Romania would be used as back-up in the onslaught, according to an official report from Sofia." [here]

I believe we are about to receive a visit from Ms. Helena Handbasket. In Iraq today, hundreds --yes, hundreds-- have died in fighting in the Najaf area, most of the dead being only semi-human because they are Iraqi, not American. But it still ought to count for something. And our helicopters are dropping like trousers in a men's room. It looks like the 'insurgents' have figured out how to shoot down helicopters.

Elsewhere, 1500 Iraqi police have been fired for dereliction of duty.

I think that's real progress. Can we stop, now?
