This is what Opposition Leader Mr Rudd said in an interview with top right-wing Australian radio interviewer John Laws (Sydney Radio 2UE, Sydney ) and as reported by the on-line by Federal labor Party (April 10, 2007; ), LAWS: … what’s your view of the latest reported remarks of the Mufti of Australia, alleged Mufti of Australia? He’s called on Muslims to stand in the trenches with Iran. RUDD: I think it’s time Sheik Hilaly was booted out as being the Mufti of Australia, and this is one of many reasons he’s publicly supported, provided support for those who engage in acts of gang rape. I think that’s wrong. These remarks, where it relates to Iran, are just quite out of character for any sensible Australian, and the reason being that Iran, of course, backs terrorist organisations like Hezbollah, who are out there in the Middle East at the moment creating havoc for a whole bunch of people. The Mufti’s time has come and gone. He’s got to be booted out as Mufti of Australia and my appeal to all mainstream Muslims in this country is make sure it happens. LAWS: Yes, well, I don’t think you’ve to encourage them too much. The majority of people to whom I’ve spoken who have connections say that they majority of Muslims simply cannot stand this man and the quicker he goes the better for all of us. RUDD: Well, they’re dead right and it’s just gone on for too long. It’s become a soap opera and he brings discredit to the community as a result and they don’t deserve this because mainstream Muslims, as you’ve said before on air and elsewhere, they just want to get on with being part and parcel of Australian life….. (inaudible) a blight on the landscape that needs to go and go now. LAWS: Kevin Andrews says the Mufti should shut up or stay overseas if he doesn’t like it here. But there’s nothing the Government can do, is there? RUDD: Well, probably you’re right. As I said, I’ve got to say I’m concerned about his call for Australian Muslims to jump into the trenches with Iran because Iran does support actively terrorist organisations – Hezbollah we mentioned before. If the Mufti is now calling on Australians to jump into the trenches with the Iranians, who themselves support terrorist organisations, my challenge to Mr Andrews and the Howard Government is have a close, close look at Australia’s own terrorist laws because I think what the Mufti is doing is starting to border on the edge of urging people to provide indirect support for the sort of terrorist organisations which the Iranian Government supports overseas. LAWS: I think the majority would agree with that as well. I mean, he’s virtually doing exactly what David Hicks has been charged with doing. RUDD: Well, I’ve got to say when it comes to serious questions of terrorism, and Hezbollah is a serious terrorist organisation, you cannot go out there and say that Australian Muslims should jump into the trenches with (inaudible) one government in the world – that’s the Iranian Government – who we know provides armed and financial support for Hezbollah, a terrorist organisation which is outlawed under Australian law. The Labor Party, when we were the government voted to ban Hezbollah some years ago and, therefore, what the Mufti is saying on this question is very close to the wind, John, when it comes to providing aid and comfort to those who support terrorism.  | | Gideon Polya / MWC NEWS |
The dispassionate view of any decent, sane observer is that TERRORISM IS EVIL and comes in 2 major varieties – Non-state terrorism and State terrorism. About 7,000 Westerners have died from Muslim-origin non-state terrorism in the last 40 years (including Israelis and making the increasingly implausible assumption of no active or passive US involvement in the 9/11 atrocity). In contrast, the post-invasion deaths variously due to US State Terrorism (USST), Israeli State Terrorism (IST) and US-Israeli State Terrorism (USIST) in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories now total 0.3, 1.0 and 2.4 million, respectively – mostly Women and Children and largely due to gross Occupier violation of the Geneva Convention which demands that Occupiers provide life-sustaining requisite to their Conquered Subjects.
I am an agnostic humanist scientist who believes that Peace is the only way. I am of course opposed to terrorism and violence of any kind. I personally don’t like organized religions, particularly those Abrahamic religions that have an essentially “historicist” basis i.e. require belief in certain historical assertions - as opposed to non-historicist religions such as Hinduism (which has Gods as role models) or Buddhism (which is a-theistic and has a scientific methodology directed towards inner peace). That said, I of course recognize how useful religion is in helping billions of people around the world cope with the vicissitudes of life. Further, as the friend of many Muslim-origin women ranging from non-observant apostates to the strictly observant, I personally do NOT care for Sheik Hilaly’s strict interpretations of Sharia Law or his recent clumsy and offending pronouncements about Women (see MWC News ). That said, Sheik Hilaly is NOT the problem here. The serious problem is the acute threat to remote, populous, peaceful Iran from violent Racist Bush-ites (RBs) and violent Racist Zionists (RZs). Decent people are obliged to stand up for International Law, the Natural Law and International Conventions and to oppose the continuing appalling threat to 70 million Iranians from US-Israeli State Terrorism (USIST). . Of course there is a lot to criticize in Iran from an agnostic humanist perspective e.g. theocratic domination of the democratic system (although similar criticisms can be made of even less democratic corporate domination of Western democracies) and commitment to a nuclear power program (a very bad economic alternative to the increasingly cost-effective solar options and subject to serious security concerns). However related criticisms can be made of Bush-ite Amerika and its Bush-ite ally Racist White Australia. Indeed Racist Zionist-, Racist Bush-ite- and corporation-dominated, Racist White Australia is committed to holocaust-commission and holocaust-ignoring in relation to the continuing passive genocide in Occupied Iraq and Occupied Afghanistan; to gross greenhouse gas pollution that threatens the world with Terracide; and an expanding involvement in supply of uranium to the world for power purposes as well as for manufacture of nuclear weapons by the West and by other countries such as China and India. Indeed Racist White Australia while having no nuclear weapons of its own is intimately linked to US Nuclear Terrorism (the most dangerous problem facing the world today) and leads the world in uranium mining, uranium exports, and the latest in uranium enrichment technology. Racist White Australia, like Racist Zionism-run Apartheid Israel, has a profound fear of its Asian neighbours and is politically committed to intimate linkage with violent US imperialism (albeit with some disagreements over emphasis such as in relation to the ongoing Iraqi Genocide). Implicit bipartisan Australian political support for the dangerously intense American and Israeli hatred towards Iran is, in a word, EVIL. Politically correct racist (PC racist) Racist White Australia won’t, but the rest of the world should stand up against the acute threat to the people of Iran from US-Israeli State Terrorism.
