HAMAS PLEDGES NOT TO DISSOLVE GOVERNMENT | Print |  E-mail

Israel is doing it's bit to guarantee that Fatah and Hamas never reunite to lead the Palestinian people. They are, as usual, showing favouritism towards Fatah by considering paying them tax funds which are owed.
This Israel sees as 'humanitarian aid' to ease the suffering of the people in Gaza. Actually, this is Israel's way of guaranteeing that there will not be a flood of refugees to Israel from the war torn area. Washington is considering the transfer of funds to Fatah as well.

Prime Minister Haniya, in the meantime, has no intention of stepping down and dissolving the Unity Government.

"The existing government will carry out its tasks," Ismail Haniya said in a news conference in the early hours of Friday.

"We will continue … with a national unity government."
Haniya said Abbas and his advisers did not consider "the consequences and its effects on the situation on the ground" in sacking Haniya's government and declaring a state of emergency.

Olmert is planning a trip to Washington over the weekend to 'discuss the collapse of Fatah in Gaza and Mr. Abbas’s chances of success.' It would be best for all parties to concerned to let the Palestinians decide that question....... OH... I forgot, THEY ALREADY DID WHEN THEY ELECTED HAMAS TO LEAD THEM.

Washington and Israel have done everything in their power since that election to guarantee that Hamas never gets the recognition it deserves.
The present crisis is the result, a crisis made in the USA and one that has cost many lives.
The time has come for the world to recognise Palestinians as an independent people, not a foster child of Israel or America. They must be allowed to choose a government of THEIR choice, not one chosen by others. The days of occupation are numbered... the sun will soon set on the American Empire as it did on the British one.
