Sometimes I don't know how these people who write for "Agencies" managed to get their jobs! "Zi" is not a surname in China. It is an appellative added to people's names indicating honor and respect, like Kongzi (Confucius) and Laozi (Laotsu). "Agencies" seem to be like the general run of people who print whatever it is they hear without a second thought. The gov't might just be trying to cover up, knowing that the West is totally ignorant of things Chinese. Faked food is not unknown, even in the US. It comes when profit, when riches become the end-all and be-all of existence. Anything to make a Yuan, eh what? Health hazards and food, though, well. . . I'd think that is more of a problem in the US where food is shipped miles upon miles to grocery store chains whereas in most of China you can go down the street and get FRESH food, veggies and meats and grains. No unfrozen stuff. Nothing with preservatives in it. You get to know people, too. There are, in contrast, vast "epidemics" of E. coli or other spoiler foods in your local US grocery store, many hidden (as in covered up) with FDA complicity. Recommend this article...
