Overseas Anglos Oppose UN Indigenous Rights Declaration

ImageAccording to a report from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) ABC On-line: “The UN General Assembly adopted a non-binding declaration protecting the human, land and resources rights of the world's 370 million Indigenous people, despite opposition from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. The vote in the assembly was 143 in favour and four against. Eleven countries, including Russia and Colombia, abstained.”

While 143 member states of the UN General Assembly voted on Thursday 13 September in favour of the text, 11 abstained and four member states - racist, Bush-ite, Anglo-Celtic-dominated Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States - voted against it.

According to the UN

“A non-binding text, the Declaration sets out the individual and collective rights of indigenous peoples, as well as their rights to culture, identity, language, employment, health, education and other issues. The Declaration emphasizes the rights of indigenous peoples to maintain and strengthen their own institutions, cultures and traditions and to pursue their development in keeping with their own needs and aspirations. It also prohibits discrimination against indigenous peoples and promotes their full and effective participation in all matters that concern them, and their right to remain distinct and to pursue their own visions of economic and social development.”

Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States all voted against the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People and are all involved in the invasion, occupation, deprivation and mass murder of the Indigenous People of Afghanistan - as of March 2007 the post-invasion excess deaths in Occupied Afghanistan total 2.4 million, the post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 1.9 million and the refugees total 3.7 million (see "The Cost of War" on MWC News). This carnage is due to gross violation of the Geneva Convention by all 4 Bush-ite countries.

Of course all 4 countries have an appalling centuries-long record of genocide against their own Indigenous people - that is continuing in the case of Australia. Thus the annual death rate is 2.4% for Indigenous Australians in the Northern Territory and 2.5% for Australian sheep (see "Sydney Madonna & Aboriginal Genocide" on MWC News).

Australia has recently, in a bi-partisan fashion, suspended the 1975 Racial Discrimination Act insofar as it applies to Indigenous Australians in the Northern Territory (see “Racism in Australia” on MWC News) - a contemptible racist act of  infamy that has trashed Racist White Australia's international reputation as well as demonstrating that its signing up to anti-racist international human rights conventions is a lie.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates “total per capita medical expenditure at average exchange rate ($US)” (2004) as $14 (US-UK-Australia-Occupied Afghanistan), $58 (US-UK-Australia-Occupied Iraq) versus $3,123 (Occupier Australia). Indigenous Australian medical services are under-funded by about $1.5 billion annually (according to the data in a very detailed report on Indigenous Australian Health by N. Thomson et al: “Overview of Indigenous Health, 2004”).

These deficient medical expenditure statistics are reflected in an “annual avoidable death rate” (annual excess death rate) of Indigenous Australians that is 2.2-0.4 = 1.8% for Indigenous Australians and 2.4-0.4 = 2.0% for Indigenous Australians in the Northern Territory - as compared to 0% for White New Zealand and for White Australia, 0.4% (South Asia), 0.5% (Occupied Iraq), 1.0% (non-Arab Africa) and 1.8% (Occupied Afghanistan).

1.8% per year of 460,000 times 11 years = about 90,000 Indigenous Australians have died avoidably under the 11 year rule of the Coalition Government.

The Indigenous infant death rate is over 3 times that of Australia as whole. The difference translates to over 146 avoidable under-5 Indigenous infant deaths annually or over 146 x 11 = about 1,600 avoidable under-5 year old Indigenous infant deaths under the Coalition Government.

The inescapable logic of voting against prohibition of racial discrimination against Indigenous People is that those adopting this position favour such discrimination – as horribly further evidenced by the continuing Aboriginal Genocide being remorselessly if passively implemented by Australia.

There must be zero tolerance for racism. What can decent people do? All they can do is to (a) inform people about Anglo-Celtia racism and (b) act ethically in relation to their avoideble  purchase of goods and services from flagrantly racist countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the US.

Yes sir. Mugabe has destroyed Zimbabwe by following such a politically correct process. The marxist baboon Chavez is well on the way to doing the same in Venezuela. The socialist are always yearning for the past...the end of the last iceage

rmdg,
You will have to do better than that.
The ice age ended, I am not sure, 15000 years ago give or take. Socialism probably appeared on the World stage as an active force about 1918, the fall of Imperial Russia.
The past was Imperial glory, that went back to Babylon and beyond, can't get your connection between the ice age and socialist dreaming.
To the historians I apologize for lack of historical exactness.

Human rights not Left or Right
Well said Mike. Further, human rights is a fundamental not dictated by economic ideology. Furthermore, Mugabe's evil persecution of Zimbabweans has a significant tribe-specific i.e. intrinsically racist element.

UN Declaration ANTI-racist
There is a World of difference between being \"race-specific\" and being \"racist\" - this is understood by the 143 countries that voted FOR the UN Resolution but NOT by the 4 racist, war criminal, mass-murdering, genocidal US, Canadian, Oz and NZ regimes who voted NO.

To specifically AFFIRM the right of Indigenous Italians to speak Italian and eat spaghetti if they want to is being \"race-specific\" in SUPPORT of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to which ALL countries have signed up, specifically:

Article #2 - Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty AND
Article #15 - (1) Everyone has the right to a nationality.

(2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.

\"Racism\" in contrast involves race-specific pejoratives, race-specific DIMINUTION of rights.

Thus the racist ruling Coalition of Racist White Australia supported by the racist Opposition Australia Labor Party has BREACHED the Australian 1975 Racial Discrimination Act by selectively seizing Indigenous property and forbidding Northern Territory Indigenous People from purchasing, using, consuming, reading or seeing things that all other Australians ARE able to.

But you cry, \"they are only doing this for the good of the Indigenous people\" to which one replies, \"yes, that\'s what the Nazis said about trains transporting Jews to supposed holiday camps in Eastern Europe that turned out to be concentration and extermination camps\".

If these racists realy want to \"help\" Indigenous People they can very readily do so by NOT violating their human rights in a race-specific fashion i.e. by NOT acting in a racist fashion.

There must be zero tolerance for racism. Sanctions and boycotts might well bring these 4 racist, war-mongering, colonialist, imperialist, genocidal, Bush-ite Anglo regimes to their senses - indeed the continuing mass murder of Indigenous Afghans by these 4 racist regimes SCREAMS for the international implementation of such measures (these 4 proto-Nazi Bush-ite regimes are complicit in the passive murder of about 1,000 under-5 year old Indigenous Afghan infants EVERY DAY - just check out the UNICEF website, the AWFUL TRUTH is just a few clicks away).

UN Declaration ANTI-racist
When one affirms the 'right' of indigenous peoples to ownership of an entire country ( as the UN resolution does) then one is removing the rights of other inhabitants of that country.

Removing the rights of non indigenous inhabitants is DIMINUTION of rights, nothing could be clearer than that. . . . and it is thus racist.

Unfortunately the trend is to assume that only indigenous people can be discriminated against, the result is a mass movement away from just and logical thought toward hypocritical racism.

UN Declaration ANTI-racist
By the way your post attempts to put words in my mouth which I have never uttered ( "but, you cry" etc. . . ) this is a foul in terms of fair and logical discourse, don't do it.

Also, I don't see that the actions of the NZ government overseas (which I don't agree with) mean that one group within New Zealand should be discriminated against in favour of another, and that's what you are suggesting.

One rule for all and the same rights for all is the only fair way to go, no amount of 'affirmative action' double talk can change that.

UN Declaration ANTI-racist
Thirdly, you seem to asume that if an indigenous people have a problem, for example poor health or a high crime rate, that this is evidence of racism, but it isn't. What you fail to recognise is that different races have different genetic makeups, this affects their behaviour, for example a recent study showed that NZ Maori genes tend to make Maori more prone to risk taking behaviour.. . like alcohol and drug abuse, child abuse and other violence. It isn't my fault if Maori tend toward violent and unhealthy behaviour, because I didn't make their genetic structure. . . they already have access to more educational and government resources in an attempt to help them out, if they don't get the message don't blame us !

Discourse & Anglo racism
1. I do NOT put words in others' mouths - those who assert so are INCORRECT. If someone assumes that what when I write "you" rhetorically it means "them" then they assume INCORRECTLY. When I (very rarely) say that a specific person did something I say named person X did specific act Y.

2. Race-specific assertions about genetics and behaviour (e.g. the notorious race-IQ assertions) are fundamentally flawed because (a) they are falsely deterministic in making assertions about unknown polygenic situations (b) cannot quantitate nature/nurture and cause/effect contributions , (c) are sheer nonsense in societies in which there is a high degree of genetic/societal ethnic mixing (e.g. the "racist 4" Anglo societies of the US, Oz, NZ and Canada and (d) in the sum total of the above are falsely and ignorantly disparaging on a race-specific basis.

Genetics.
Roy sir,
Modern Europeans, unlike their ancestors, do not die at the average age of forty five with a mouth full of abscesses, and very few teeth, lifestyle, modern hygiene an medicine has turned that around, not a change in genetics. People get attitude depending on circumstances, take for instance, industrial Britain; in my youth it was understood that it was best not to mix it with Georgies, Glaswegians, and Scousers, and others from the hard industrial cities, was it genetics, no it was the environment that they lived in made them \"Hard Men\" .
I have met up with people with the racist superior attitude. One man, declared that the Aboriginals were 286\'s and we Whites were 486\'s (old computers). This man had a giant ego, no one liked him, black or white.
The things you describe like poor health, and high crime etc., can be an indication of
neglect.
In 18th century England, the downtrodden masses suffered all of those things, kids drinking gin, whores every where, totally disgusting, a result of callous indifference, ignorance and neglect.
When I read of the inferiority of races my mind wonders back to what was said in Nazi Germany regarding, Jews, Gypsies, and Slavs.

Have you ever been to Australia or New Zealand?
I submit to you sir, that you don't know what the hell you are talking about, and shouldn't be so quick to pigeon hole.
NZ had perfectly good reasons to reject the UN resolution. They already have the treatie of waitangi and NZ Common Law, the last thing they need is another devisive law sitting atop the others. Have a read on the can of worms that was Seabed and Foreshore debate, we don\'t need to go there again.

Genetics.
I did not say that one race is superior to another, merely that there are genetic differences and consequently some differences in behaviour between races. In spite of these differences we must find the best common law for all people living within the same geographical territory, as it is impossible to have a just society whithout a common law. The UN resolution is a move away from justice and a common law , and has rightly been refused by the New Zealand government. Many indigenous people in New Zealand are against the UN resolution.

A further point is that New Zealand has the right of self government and bowing to the will of the UN would reduce that right, and thus by default the rights of all New Zealand citizens, I am very glad that the government has stood firm on this issue.

Genetics.
Mike, In New Zealand even people on the lowest income have sufficient income to live healthily, I should know, I have a large healthy family and we live on a lower per capita income than those on government benefits ( we have a small business), in the past 10 years we have needed only 3 or 4 visits to the doctor due to minor accidents. To put it plainly we live like Kings in spite of a very low income , and thus those who say that the Maori are unhealthy due to economic circumstance forced upon them are completely wrong, it is not a matter of low funding it is a matter of taking the time and effort to make healthy lifestyle choices. If Maori choose not to be healthy then we cannot force them we can only offer the opportunity.

If Maori wish to assert their own cultural identity then they would do well to reject unnhealthy products and return to healthier diet similar to that of their ancestors ( perhaps with the exception of human meat ). . . as a matter of fact I believe that we should all do this.

Race, Genetics & behaviour BS
Statements such as \"there are genetic differences and consequently some differences in behaviour between races\" are MEANINGLESS if one cannot qualitatively specify or quantitatively measure the genetic differences and the nature verus nurture contributions AND even more so in situations when one cannot assess degree of intermarriage and genetic admixture.

Of course even between chimpanzees and homo sapiens there is about 98% genetic identity!

Those considerations indeed (humanity aside) were the underlying fallacies of Nazi eugenics and right-wing racist American eugenics and UK and US race-IQ assertions (how come Anglos and Germans were so obsessed about this to the point of gross scientific fallacy?).

Pakeha Kiwis (White New Zealanders - though with rape, the milkman syndrome and intermarriage how Pakeha ARE they really?) one would have thought would be well advised to keep a low profile on maltreatment of Indigenous people - the Maori population dropped from about 0.1-0.2 million in 1800 to 42,000 by 1893 due to the British invasion, war, occupation, theft and introduced disease.

NZ has a long record of supporting Anglo-American mass murder of Indigenous People around the World from British India (1.5 BILLION excess deaths over 2 centuries of genocidal British rule) to American Afghanistan (post-invasion excess Indigenous deaths now total 2.5 MILLION) (see \"The Cost of War\" and my book \"Body Count\" in the link provided below).

While the Clark Government is easily the BEST of the Anglo Governments in the world (it is oppposed to nuclear weapons and is not in Iraq) it is STILL complicit in the cowardly, racist, mass murder of about 1,000 Indigenous Afghan infants EVERY DAY (90% avoidable and due to US and Anglo ally war crimes - they only permit an annual per capita total medical expenditure of about $20 in Occupied Afghanistan: at that level Pakeha Kiwis would ALSO be dying like flies).

One could have more sympathy for the bleatings of the Kiwis (Kiwi squawking rather than ovine bleating?) about the UN Indigenous Rights Declaration if they weren\'t so actively involved in the conquest, deprivation and mass murder of Indigenous People in the proto-Nazi, human rights-abusing, Indigenous People mass murdering American Empire.

What they are really saying is that the Pakehas (Anglos) have had a 500 year Anglo \"tradition\" of conquering, murdering and dispossessing Indigenous people and are STILL doing it today both at home (less so) and abroad (egregiously).

The deadly Kiwis are complicit in the about 20 million avoidable deaths (mostly of Women and Children) associated with US post-1950 Asian Wars.

Further, the UN Declaration is not BINDING - it simply RECOMMENDS against conquering, murdering, disposessing and otherwise violating the human rights of Indigenous People - a pretty reasonable recommendation in the view of anti-racist humanitarians around the world.

Thereis a n urgent need toprotect Indigenous People today from mass murdering, proto-Nazi Anglo Bush-ites in a swathe of US- or US surrogate-occupied countries from Haiti to Afghanistan.

Roy,
Look I have no problem with your last comment. And I do not know exactly what it is like in New Zealand regarding the Maori, we have got quite a few in this part of W.A., they get on with their lives the same as the rest of us.
There is something terribly wrong in Australia regarding the Aboriginal, racism is part of the mix, the government is showing concern, in that direction, but a cynic, might believe it has something to do with the upcoming election. There is something in returning to a wholesome diet, Booze and donuts is not a good diet, and fast foods are causing universal health problems.
The biggest influence I believe on the health and wellbeing of people is the environment in which they live and their culture not so much genetics.

gpolya or whatever your name is, the Maori were mass murderers and cannibals before the white man arrived, in fact they wiped out the previous inhabitants, then they in turn were conquered, it was the way of the world, but to say that it is still happening here in Nw Zealand is bunkum, Maori already have considerably more rights than other residents in New Zealand, and if they still have problems don't blame me, I'm not forcing them to eat chips, drink lion red and smoke winfield, that's their own decision, just too easy to blame us.

I don't see that racial injustice in the form of an indigenous 'master race' policy ( which is what the UN resolution promotes) is going to fix anything.

I believe that all residents of New Zealand have the right to buy a house and live in it, however under the UN resolution indigenous people would have the right to the entire country. . . if that were enacted the rest of us would effectively become slaves.

Sooner or later they are going to have to be stopped from taking rights away from the rest of the population, knowing them as I do I feel that it is unlikely that they will stop of their own accord, and that civil war is likely when the government and non Maori eventually say that enough is enough.

As for all this genocide business, you wish to punish all non maori for the actions of the NZ government, regardless of which way we voted or our opinions on the matter? Do you also wish to reward all maori for being indigenous even though they are reprsented in the NZ Army? Dammit it's not my fault if a Maori joins the army and goes to Iraq, or are you going to say that he has been coerced by pakeha advertising and that thus I'm to blame ?

The bottom line is that one rule for all citizens is the only fair way to go, none of your double talk and ranting about Nazis will change that. . . you opinions are closer to fascsim than you realise.

Another point is that no one ever seems to realise that every race is indigenous to somewhere, are you going to support my land claim in Scotland if the property is now owned by an Arab ?

Memes not genes & Respect
Mike, I agree wholeheartedly with your comments on the importance of culture and environment (what Professor Dawkins calls "memes" in transmission of behaviour) for well-being rather than polygenic genetic components (genes) that cannot even be addressed in terms of cause and effect except in extreme cases of physiological dysfunction(e.g. cystic fibrosis). A healthy start for social health in Indigenous-non-Indigenous societies is RESPECT for Indigenous people - as recommended in a non-binding fashion by the UN Declaration but unfortunately most appallingly NOT observed by many in such societies and as sadly evidenced on this thread

Give it a break all the respect in the world won't stop my indigenous neighbours from drinking alcohol and smoking p all night, it's their choice !

You really have no idea, in my town my immediate indigenous neighbours have over the past year stolen thousands of dollars worth of equipment to feed their party lifestyle, they do this openly and support these activities via gang affiliations, in spite of the fact that they earn more than us already. Also gangs of indigenous youths have beaten my young son severely when they find him by himself, they won't pick me though because I will knock their bloody blocks off, don't whine to me about giving respect i take people as i find them regardless of race. . . they however hate us with a passion.

i ahve studied psychology sociology philosophy education and logic, i read all that neme stuff it's all BS go and live with indigenous people and get to know them or shut the F up.

When I say stealing I mean from my family. . . 7 bicycles and a solar panel, the bikes were our transport.

Too many impractical shiny arsed academics parroting the same affermative action nonsense is a very bad thing . . . one law for all citizens of the same country what's hard to understand about that?

You types are trying to oppress us via legislation, you are racist in the extreme, and furthermore you seem to be incapable of understanding that
indigenous people can be 'white'. . . you only go for the darker skinned races, that's just sick.

Why UN Declaration needed
Readers of this thread - ugly comments in this thread make a powerful argument for the need for the UN Indigenous Rights Declaration. If I were a victim of crime the race of the alleged perpetrator would be irrelevant to the justice process.

Logic.
Logical question.
Like I said before the Maori around here, W.A., have no particular reputation.
Some are employed at the local shopping center as security guards. My son knows several of them, he likes them, he reckons they are o.k. blokes.
These folk do not fit the image you portray, lets face it they would not last five minutes in security.
So what is the logical explanation for this conundrum?
Another question is, and I like to stay in logic, if New Zealand changes nothing how do you fix your problem?
Why do the Maori, hate the white?
Here is a thought; my father, was a military man, and he ordered two men to go and do a job together. One of the men said no sir! I\'ll no work with a Campbell. He carried a 200 year old grievance, thats the power of old hatred.

Gpoly Maori have much higher crime rates than the rest of the population, and part of the culture is that it is ok to steal from the pakeha.

Gpoly you say that the race of the criminal should be irrelevant to the justice process, however a recent UN recommendation was that New Zealand needs to have 'race and culturally specific" sentencing to reduce the number of Maori in jail . . . in other words if you are Maori justice is different.

You see the contradiction with your stance ?

One law for all is not an ugly argument sorry, it is justice

Zero tolerance for racism
I agree with your sensible comments Mike. The profound injustice with racism and racial stereotyping is
that the victims can't help being born of their parents.

No doubt there are Kiwis both Maori and Pakeha who steal (though, we must ask how much Maori and how much Pakeha are they after 2 centuries of rape, intermarriage and the milkman syndrome) but it is absurd to apply blanket generalizations. Do we doubly lock up our bikes when Kiri Ta Kanawa (famous Maori international opera singer) comes to town?

Rational risk management says let criminologists, psychiatrists, psychologists and sociologists etc get the facts, do the science and suggest sensible systemic change to minimize risk. Being nice, polite, respectful , fair and inclusive to ethnic minorities - and indeed to everyone - is very helpful for a happy society rather than the reverse.
