THE RIGHT TO VOLUNTARY MOTHERHOOD IN THE AMERICAS Friday, October 14th, 2005 12pm-2pm Washington College of Law 4801 Massachusetts Ave., NW Washington, D.C. 20016 Room TBD All over the Americas, women suffer discrimination and abuse because of their reproductive capacity. Community members, spouses, parents, and health professionals use discrimination, violence, and abuse as means to limit women's ability to choose if, when, how, and with whom to become mothers. These abuses violate internationally recognized human rights, including women's rights to life, health, nondiscrimination, bodily integrity, privacy, liberty, religious freedom, and freedom from torture. In this panel, lawyers with years of experience in the region will share the legal and practical implications of these violations.
