Obama: No cowboy diplomacy with Iran | Print |  E-mail
By Shahram Vahdany

US presidential hopeful Barack Obama has slammed George W Bush's recent rhetoric against Iran, saying the cowboy diplomacy is no use.

“Five years after the original war after the Iraq vote we should have all learned that cowboy diplomacy doesn't work,” Obama told to a crowd of about 2,000 people.

“We now hear the drums of war beating again,” Obama added.

Obama's remarks came after Bush said that Iran nuclear program would lead to World War III and if the world wants to avoid war, it should halt Iran's nuclear activities.

Obama also blasted the legislators who voted for the Kyl-Lieberman amendment against Iran. He warned that they are repeating the mistake they made five years ago with the vote to authorize war in Iraq.

Obama called the amendment “so dangerous” because its wording allows Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney to justify keeping troops in Iraq as long as they portray Iran as a threat.
