At least four military jets bombed Kurdish separatist targets on Wednesday, a Turkish military source said, adding that no information on casualties was immediately available.
 
Ahmed Danees, a rebel spokesman, said the strikes had taken place late on Wednesday afternoon in the northeast part of Iraq's Arbil province, close to the Turkey-Iran border.
 
Kurdish rebels, fighting for independence since 1984, have been seeking autonomy for Kurds in southeast Turkey.
 
Turkey has carried out several cross-border raids into Iraq in recent months in pursuit of Kurdish fighters.
 
Ankara says Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has several bases in northern Iraq and has vowed to target them.
 
PKK has been blamed for several attacks on Turkey and is considered a terrorist organisation by both Ankara and the US.
