The explosion also wounded five people in the west of the city early on Sunday. "Three ANA officers and two of our civilian compatriots were wounded and a woman was martyred," a defence ministry statement said. The targeted vehicle was damaged but not destroyed. The soldiers were travelling to work at a military academy in the capital when the explosion took place. The bomb had been planted on an island in the centre of the road, a defence ministry official told the AFP news agency. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing. The attack came after a suicide attack in the eastern city of Jalalabad which killed two soldiers from the Nato military alliance, and wounded another five.
