The head of Saddam Hussein's tribe has been killed in a car bomb attack in Iraq.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday in the town of Awja in Tikrit, north of Baghdad, police said. A bomb had been placed on the underside of Sheikh Ali al-Neda's vehicle. Al-Neda headed Iraq's al-Bu Nasir tribe, a large Sunni Arab clan which includes the former Iraqi ruler's family. Police said that al-Neda and one of his guards died and another guard was seriously wounded in the blast. Saddam hailed from Tekrit, about 80km from Baghdad.
