Will Martial Law Prevent US elections in November? | Print |  E-mail
By Rachael Bliss

Will we even see an election this fall in the USA?

Conversely, will we be forced to endure more time under the influence of the Bush Administration, during which time new judges will be possibly appointed to federal judgeships, including the Supreme Court itself?

Nah, will never happen, we say. But don't be so sure about the so-called "impossibility."

Have you ever heard of martial law, whereby because of an emergency, the current president gets new powers, one being the ability to delay elections, such as the General Election scheduled for the first Tuesday in November of 2008.

What kind of emergency could happen that would put the US into a situation calling for the proclamation of martial law?

Think Iran. Think Hamas. Think President George W. Bush. Think about all three, and you have the makings of martial law being imposed before November of this year in the USA.

The scenario: This has already happened, according to PBS's Nightly Business News, this being the shipment from Iran to Hamas of long range missiles so the latter can defend itself against Israeli incursions. However, Israel and the USA see it in another way. This is serious stuff, a very real threat to our ally Israel from a terrorist nation. Now the Palestinians have more violent weapons than the suicide bomber or rock throwing from angry youth.

So we people of peace now wait. What will happen next? We know that Bush has been waiting for an opportunity to attack Iran. Will this shipment of arms to Hamas be the straw to break the camel's back, so to speak, of a shakey peace between the US and Iran? (And how in the devil were the weapons even brought into the Palestinian area, since almost all of Gaza is a prison with Israel surrounding it with armed guards and plenty of American-made weapons?)

Is there proof that this shipment of arms really happened? Could the entire event have been a set-up by the CIA or corporate contractors so our country and Israel would have an excuse to go in and attack Iran?

From this possible attack, which would be approved by a threatened Congress whose members will want to impress voters back home that they are concerned about protecting their constituents from a nuclear attack from Iran, which could be immanent.

Meanwhile Iran wouldn't take an attack from the USA laying down. They will mount a strong counter offensive, and bring in other Middle Eastern countries who don't like the USA or Israel any more than they do.

This will be when Bush will have no other choice, per our corporate media, than to declare martial law in the USA, including the suspension of the November elections.....only until we reach a place in our fight against new terrorists where it will be safe to change leadership at the top.

So the American people, once more co-opted by fear, will fall in line behind their esteemed and fearless leader in another flight jacket. Their leader will unselfishly agree to continue to serve his country as president, as will he vice president Richard Cheney.

And neither Barack Obama or John McCain will be elected in November of 2008. They will continue as US Senators. Life will go on in the US. We will shop, pay ever escalating hikes in gas and oil prices, along with food prices. CO2 levels will continue to rise and the economy continue to dip. Civil rights will be almost non-existent. And our prisons and holding cells full of suspected terrorists will bulge with prisoners who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or who said the wrong thing to the wrong people.

From the bottom of who I am, I hope the scenario described above never happens. But it is up to us NOW to be vigilant so the same thing that happened in Iraq doesn't happen in Iran.

This is the time for alternative media, for social activists, for raging grannies who care about the freedom and well-being of future generations, to all join together and let our leadership know that "We aren't going to take this" anymore.

Are you ready to join us in those efforts? It will be too late to turn things around once the bombs against Iran start falling and martial law is declared into our country. Action is required now while we can act.

Marshal Law
This type of paranoia is extrememly divisive. US popular trust of our governement has taken a hit because of the bush administration but there has never been a threat to our incredibly stable democratic process. Whether you like it or not everything Bush has done has been Legal under US law and the constitution and there is absolutely no threat to the incredibly stable democratic process that includes peaceful transfer of power. There is a sickness behind this paranoia. Martial law is the boogyman to you. would never happen no matter how much it sounds like the writer wishes it would so irrational hatred of Bush would be vindicated.

Marshal Law
{sigh} Sometimes I feel like Cassandra but...at least one person now is looking at the obvious while a commenter remains blind. Look, when you can arrest 10,000 people one time and 3,000 another and no one say anything about it or think it untoward it's difficult to think that Marshal Law is a fiction. In other countries, these are sweeps by rightwing gov'ts. Rightwing Gov'ts???? Ever notice how the RED STATES are Republican?

Marshall Law.
Well if Marshal Law comes because of a fight in Iran, the hunters and gun collectors will be fighting here for the right to bare arms and I am not talking about a word or fist fight.Just may be civil war in in America.

maybe that is why America`s Military has been training Russian Troops and stationing them here for the coming Marshal Law.

Between now and November, will tell us the story.

You can't be serious right? Just because someone (i.e. Bush) get's the laws changed retroactively doesn't mean what he did or is doing is by any means legal.
