A 'Thank You' to a Great President
Dear President Chavez, Image

I am writing today to express my sincere gratitude to you for all that you have done during past winters. Your generous contribution of heating oil - some free and some discounted -  to the people of the United States is appreciated more than you will ever know.

Here, in the northern part of our country winter temperatures often fall well below zero. Many citizens have suffered not only discomfort, but also health problems related to the inadequate heating of their homes.  Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has received testimony that some of his constituents have had to chop up their furniture to use for fuel - that was during last winter. Worse is predicted for next winter.

During the recent Congressional Hearings on the cost of heating oil, testimony was given stating that people will freeze to death in New England during the upcoming winter heating season.  Testimony also was given to explain the cause of the rapid increase in the cost of oil. Several expert witnesses testified that a large portion - maybe 70% - of the increase was due to Commodity Futures Speculators.

Some might suggest that the logical solution to the problem would be to arrest the Speculators, nationalize the oil companies, increase auto efficiency to 50MPG, and move toward wind, solar and tidal energy sources. None of those efforts will be timely enough to save the lives that will be in jeopardy this winter.  The time has come for a hero to emerge.  President Chavez, that is you. Only you can save us from the policies that have led the United States to this long, dark winter.

That other president, the one we have in our country, probably has access to more money than you have. Unfortunately, his priorities are not as humanitarian as yours. He has gotten himself, and us too, entangled in a rather gruesome situation in Iraq. Maybe you have read about it in your press. It looks like we will be spending all of our money for generations to come on weapons. That brings up another problem. Many in the United States cannot afford health care. If it is not too much trouble, next time you are talking to your friend, Fidel, please tell him we need doctors over here. Also, the need for dentists is so critical that my best friend  relocated from the United States to Costa Rica because she had a toothache.

In appreciation of your generosity during previous winters, I have been passing the word to everyone I know. I have been asking them to buy only Citgo gasoline.

Please say, “Hello”, to the wife and family for me. Oh, I almost forgot to say that I admire the people of Venezuela who were smart enough to vote for you. Maybe some of them would be willing to come up here and help us run an election in November.   Right now it looks like we need a lot of help.

This open letter was written by someone who has no concept of what liberty is and places no value on it. The author also fails to understand that Chavez is squandering his country's resources, making use of seized assets that will soon run out.

Nationalizing anything that moves allows Chavez to be very very generous in the short term but the process kills the golden goose. All the industries and resources that have been nationalized will grind to a halt due to the incompetence and apathy that always results when central planning and "equality" takes precedence over ambition and skill. Venezuela has lost massive amounts of international investment and expertise. Chavez is using a propaganda smokescreen and liquidating existing assets to create the illusion of something approaching prosperity but soon those assets will run out and VENEZUELA WILL COLLAPSE.

I considered the possibility that this letter was a joke it was so willfully blind to the tyrannical behavior of Chavez. But I think it is serious. I wish I could honestly say I was surprised that people fall for cons like this.

WhiteRaven...Did I strike a nerve? Sometimes the truth hurts. Do you actually think that Chavez is squandering more of the national wealth than the US does maintaining military bases in more than 100 countries - and what about the US cost of waging constant war (since 1991)???

I agree that Chavez is not perfect, BUT at least in Venezuela 18,000 people don't die every year from lack of access to health care. You talk about 'liberty'. Yep, in the US there is liberty to die unattended on the Emergency Room floor, liberty to be homeless, liberty to work 80 hours/week and still be poor.

Also, many in the US are very grateful to Chavez for his contribution of heating oil. He has been very generous. I never thought that things would get so bad in the USA that ordinary people who have worked hard all of their lives would have to accept foreign aid. Shame on the USA.

Nationalizing anything that moves
kills the golden goose, (suppress dimensions of Greed). I only buy CITGO or VALERO. Chavez has raised the literacy rate up 23% with his changes. He has followed thru on his campaign promises. Much of the illusions of the western style of life project, hide as much again. It is the greed of the top 1% of the wests (EU included), capitalist population that is driving the currency and other recession (depression) problems around the world. Chavez sets example and options, the 1% would rather others not see offered or work. Capitalism is choking and those who hold keys to unlock doors to the earths reasources are subject to assasination. The wests biggest crime is its hubris and blind acceptance of all the cold war dogma it has spewn since the real and percieved horrors of 1917. But you can only lie for so long. Chavez could be like the Clintons goverment friends with death squads as we see in their friends back yard in Columbia. What high standard of living and weapon making economy we have thrived on was not always justified by sufferings of those who we chose to covertly and overtly suppress. While living under a constitution and bill of rights that can be so easily steped on, and gotten away with. But then it was written by slave owners who did not trust the abilities of the common man to make an educated decision to vote. So what did the founding fathers really mean?

Is that a lie?

Refer:-
http://www.commonwealthfund.org
More than half (51%) of uninsured adults reported medical debt or bill problems. Of those, nearly half (49%) used up all their savings to pay their bills. Two of five were unable to pay for basic necessities like food, heat, or rent. (That\'s 15% of US population, includes 40% of low to middle income earners).
That\'s 14% more uninsured than in Australia.

The citizens of the US are being conned big time.
