But Mommy, It was an immaculate conception! I don't know if this point has been made in the Palin discussion yet or not. I have retreated in disgust from the whole debate.
Studies have convincingly shown that unplanned pregnancies are a highly likely result when teens are taught nothing about birth control. Far from being the encouragement to promiscuity that the terrified fundamentalists predict, a lack of understanding of human reproduction serves our youngsters poorly in the pitched battle of hormones versus the badly outstripped Hebrew God of vengeance. To parade this cognitive dissonance in front of millions of people and expect no comment on the Republican position concerning the reproductive health and safety of our daughters is really asking for it. Did Bristol Palin really plan for or want this child?
