McCain Supporters Continue to Scream “Kill Him” — Obama

We’re way past enough is enough and well into deeply irresponsible behavior.  It’s clear that the McCain-Palin campaign is desperate, and with good reason–polling shows they are in deep trouble, tied or trailing in must-win states like Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and Missouri.  Obama is even leading in West Virginia and North Dakota.

McCain’s desperation is understandable, but that doesn’t make his despicable attacks any less shameful.  He and his “I‘ve got nothing to lose” running mate are flogging the Ayers distraction with every fiber of their being, relentlessly and irresponsibly suggesting that Obama is tied to terrorists.

As I’ve observed, this demagoguery has had predictable results: McCain supporters ae screaming “terrorist”, “treason”, and worse at campaign rallies.  This surreal pattern is continuing–yesterday in Pennsylvania a McCain-Palin supporter yelled “kill him” with regard to Obama.

As we head into the final debate tonight, cable news is breathlessly asking questions about the ACORN non-story (which has nothing to do with Obama or with anyone actually casting even one fraudulent ballot).  I saw Wolf Blitzer spend a solid 5 minutes on ACORN last night.  Will he take even 90 seconds to ask whether McCain will say, in clear and certain terms, that his supporters have gone over the line in calling for the murder of his rival, Barack Obama?
