Two Afghan villagers are alleging that dozens of women and children attending a wedding party in southern Afghanistan were killed or wounded by air raids.
The witnesses were in the main hospital in Kandahar city on Wednesday alongside wounded relatives following air raids they say took place on Monday. The US military says it does not yet have any information on the incident. Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, appeared to refer to the alleged attack in a news conference held to congratulate Barack Obama, winner of the US presidential election. Karzai said there were civilian casualties as a result of air raids in the Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar province.
