Rape Kit Backlog – 12,000 in Los Angeles Alone | Print |  E-mail

In his New York Times editorial column, Nicholas Kristof called on police departments nationwide to eliminate the high numbers of untested rape kits.  He quotes Human Rights Watch’s 2008 report “Testing Justice” that documents through dozens of interviews with police officers, public officials, criminalists, rape treatment providers, and rape victims, the devastating effects of the backlog on victims of sexual abuse.
