Remember the original meaning of Mothers’ Day!

Today, we at long last have finally come to the reductio ad absurdum of war as no longer an important strategy in the struggle against tyranny but now wholly the exclusive, savage instrument of Imperialism.

War has reduced man below the level of an unnatural beast and has made our country forever disgraced in the history of humanity.  We must now come again, with renewed recognition and humility, to the words of Julia Ward Howe who, at the end of the carnage of the Civil War, issued this Mothers’ Day Proclamation.

The controversy of her words might have been debated in her day and indeed at the end of WWII.  Today, its message can no longer brook any challenge or contradiction.

Mothers' Day Proclamation: Julia Ward Howe, Boston, 1870

Mother's Day was originally started after the Civil War, as a protest to the carnage of that war, by women who had lost their sons.

Arise, then, women of this day! Arise all women who have hearts, whether our baptism be that of water or of fears!

Say firmly: "We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies. Our husbands shall not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.

We women of one country will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs. From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up with our own. It says "Disarm, Disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice."

Blood does not wipe our dishonor nor violence indicate possession. As men have often forsaken the plow and the anvil at the summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.

Let them then solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace, each bearing after their own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar, but of God.

In the name of womanhood and of humanity, I earnestly ask that a general congress of women without limit of nationality may be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient and at the earliest period consistent with its objects, to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interests of peace.

Julia Ward Howe
Boston, 1870

US killing Mothers' Children
A very important reminder from marvellous, humanitarian American writer and film-maker Bob Boldt that Mother's Day is about Mothers - women who have had Children - and accordingly what happens to those Children is of intense concern to Mothers (see Bob Boldt's powerful short video Kindertotenlied: orld's population but are consuming 25% of its resources).

In the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories post-invasion non-violent excess deaths total 0.3 million, 1.0 million and 3.2 million, respectively; post-invasion violent deaths total about 10,000, 1.3 million and 2-4 million, respectively; post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 0.2 million, 0.6 million and 2.3 million, respectively; and refugees total 7 million, 6 million and 4 million, respectively. This constitutes a Palestinian Holocaust, an Iraqi Holocaust and an Afghan Holocaust; a Palestinian Genocide, Iraqi Genocide and Afghan Genocide as defined by Article 2 of the UN Genocide Convention (see " Pro-Zionist Western Genocide Denial": Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950 ).

US mass murder of Asian kids
Here is the link to Bob Boldt's short video Kindertotenlied: Redacted, redacted & Kindertotenlied, Song about the death of Children ).

The link to the horrendous deaths in the ongoing Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Genocides is Pro-Zionist Western Genocide Denial.

Here are some further shocking statistics about what has been happening to Mothers' Children due to endless US wars and US global hegemony (5% of the world's population consuming 25% of its resources).

16 million people die avoidably each year in the World due to deprivation and deprivation-exacerbated disease; each year 10.6 million under-5 year old infant die, 90% (i.e. 9.5 million) avoidably.

Avoidable violent and non-violent Indigenous Asian deaths in post-1950 US Asian wars now total about 25 million.

1950-2005 excess deaths in countries occupied by the US as a principal occupier since 1945 (excluding Japan and Germany) total 82 million - all Mothers' Children (for detailed documentation of the above see see Gideon Polya “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950”, G.M. Polya, Melbourne, 2007: Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950 ).

Mothers' Day.
Bob,
Sir thank you for educating me.
Mothers' day is a universal celebration, and yet it appears to lack the power it deserves.
Some three or four thousand years ago, Asherah was removed from her heavenly throne, leaving Yahweh supreme and alone in charge, the god that likes, infanticide, genocide, and war. The god of the 'Terrible Three' traditions of Abraham.
And still 'She' weeps for the slaughter, while 'He' can frolic in all the carnage.

Mike.
