60 Minutes' Lara Logan Reports On The Increasing Use Of Drones In The Battlefield

I don’t know if any of you had the patience to sit through this blatant infomercial for the Pentagon, brought to you courtesy of 60 minutes, yesterday.

"These remote drones are so deadly accurate they can pick off the bride in a wedding party and leave the groom with his hair intact."   -- Made up quote from Drones: America's New Air Farce.

CBS' Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent, Lara Logan’s efforts on behalf of eroticizing the war in Iraq now seems to be directed towards selling Obama’s impending disaster in Afghanistan.  I had to switch it off.

I am so sad that CBS seems to feel the need to continue to rubber stamp the military-industrial complex’s latest techno-follies.  No matter how geewiz-wonderful these deadly, giant, model airplane toys appear, an aerial assault is no way to have the kind of ground war we seem bent of waging in Afghanistan.

Somebody tell me again, why are we conducting a full-scale assault on Afghanistan?  These are strictly local Taliban defending their homeland, not “international terrorists” looking for a round two on US targets.

There should have been a disclaimer title on the piece and a subtitle “War Criminal” under the picture of the remote pilot Lara was so fawning over.  I’m glad I don’t go to that little Eichman’s church.  I would empty the communion wine over his head.  Then he would have Christ’s blood on his head as well as the real blood of Afghan children on his hands.  Remote drones mean remote morality.

Bob,
I believe we've been witnessing the "accuracy" of the drones in action in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan and elsewhere for a couple years now, with (sadly) a significant up tick in the numbers of civilian deaths from drones this year.

Paid media liars are a dime a dozen. Logan just happens to have the Miss America (blonde and blue eyed) look the media moguls think they need now to sell the wars. After all, aren't they aiming their message at adolescent males (or those males who never grow up)?

Sodom and Gomorrah
No doubt about it we have walked to the edge on top of Uluru, past the point of no return into the precipitoud decline of morality beyont which there is no redemption. So as we find ourselves in an increasingly amoral world, beginning to experience the shadowy world twixt Sodom and Gomorrah we begin to ask ourselves again - what was morality all about?

My feeling is that as the social fabric that depended utterly on it evaporates we will begin to understand - and that time is not far away. The glitzy world behinf the pixels of CBS will be no comfort.

Not heroes any more...
Good to see this article here. The Drones - I guess that should put an end to the obscene hero worship that has been going to the troops. Hard to think of someone who kills by remote control and then goes home for supper a hero.
