We on the left need to begin striking back at the lying Right.  We can begin by bringing a small ray of truth to their dark little corner of the Internet.  Here is my contribution to one popular Brownshirt blog:

To my Right Wing friends at Moonbattery.com,

I’m sure your readers would richly enjoy another long post by me in which I refute your flagrantly absurd 15 bullet points (see FYI enclosed below) that evidence what you would consider our country’s patriotic “rot” and our heinous retreat from the sad memory of 9/11.  I find your use of 9/11 to justify everything from torture to the gleeful destruction of one of the most culturally advanced countries in the Middle East to be right up there with the criminal insanity of the Cheney/Bush way of thinking.  But let’s just leave that for another day.

If you really want to honor the death of so many on that day why don’t you let up for a second with your childish fantasies of false heroes and over-inflated villains and advocate for some people who really could use a little attention.  I am speaking of the men and women, the real forgotten heroes of 9/11, who unselfishly rushed forward to tear apart the twisted rubble and lift the shattered steel of that wrecked structure to help save people and also retrieve the remains of victims for later sacred burial.

It is unfortunate that, largely due to the unforgivable lies by the Bush Administration (what else is new, eh?) many of these unsung heroes now suffer sickness, death and disability as a result of the toxic air at ground zero.

“I mean, we were there for them when they needed us. And, you know, they told us—Christine Whitman stood there, and I don’t care what she says about it. She said the pile was different. She’s a liar. I was standing there. She did not say that the air was different on the pile. She stood on the pile with her mask below her neck and talked to us and told us we were heroes and said the air was fine, and she put the mask back on, and she got back in her car, and she left, you know, and went back to New Jersey where it was safe. So she’s a liar, and that’s all she is.”

--   Joe Picurro, disabled New Jersey steel worker

I think it is time you people get a grip on reality and started doing some things to truly heal this country and its people—starting with a real honoring of the real heroes of 9/11.

Peace,

Bob Boldt

(note: "Moonbatts" are a codename these people use for Liberals)

It took only seven years for moonbattery (read Liberalism) to rot our patriotism, unity, and resolve to the point that Barack Obama could be elected president. Imagine how well he would have fared if the election had been in 2001.

We need to get our country back before it's too late.

Who Would Have Thought It?

If I had told you on September 11, 2001 that eight years later…

  • We would have a president who picked as a close White House advisor someone who stated that America got what was coming to us 9-11, that the United States was a terrorist country, and whose minister had said the same.
  • That the president who had kept the country safe from further terror attacks for eight years -- who turned Iraq and Afghanistan from our mortal enemies into our nominal allies -- would be reviled as a "war criminal."
  • We would elect a president who would say Victory over the terrorists isn't really our objective.
  • We would have a Congressional leadership that was ready to cede Afghanistan back to the Taliban, because they didn't think the public thought winning was worth it.
  • The president and his administration would be forbidden to speak of the 'War on Terrorism' because the language was considered politically incorrect. Instead, of a terror attack, the events on 9-11-2001 would be considered merely a "man-caused disaster."
  • Our Supreme Court would have concluded that the foreign terrorists who destroyed the WTC were entitled to the same Constitutional Rights as the Americans they butchered.
  • We would have a president eager to bring terrorists onto American soil, and would have released other terrorists to taxpayer paid vacations in tropical paradises.
  • The president and his party would be seeking to prosecute intelligence agents who put their lives on the line to protect Americans from another attack.
  • We would have members of an entire political party who thought pouring water on a terrorist's nose to save American lives was a horror beyond the pale.
  • Hollywood would have released several movies depicting our soldiers and intelligence services as the bad guys (Redacted, Syriana, War Inc, Lions for Lambs, In the Valley of Elah), and the terrorists as innocent victims (Rendition).
  • A film-maker who described Islamic terrorists as "equivalent to our Minutemen" would be given a place of honor in the president's box at the DNC convention.
We would have a president who apologized to Islamic countries for America defending ourselves against terrorists.
  • We would have a president that stood by and did nothing while the world's leading sponsor of terror developed nuclear weapons.
  • Our borders would still be wide open, and two successive administrations would have done nothing to secure them.
  • An environmental group would use the horrific images of the murder of 2,800 people as part of a hip, edgy ad campaign.

Would you have believed me? Would you have thought all this was insane? Would you have been outraged? Would you have thought it possible on 9-11-2001, that eight years later our national leadership would be once again gutting our military, tying up our intelligence agencies in bureaucratic knots, and retreating to the same failed 'terrorism is a law enforcement matter' approach that led to the attacks on the World Trade Center to begin with?

What would you have said if you knew all this would happen after 9-11-2001, besides, 'Good God, what happened to this country? How did we let this happen? How did we forget?'

Update: According to the official 9-11-2009 Presidential 9-11 Proclamation, the events of 9-11-2001 weren't terrorist attacks, they were "heinous crimes." Just crimes, you know, like dealing coke, or tax evasion, or facilitating child prostitution.

U.S. intervention at the behest of its multi-national corporations that has allowed said corporations to rob, pillage, plunder and exploit the natural resources, ecological environments, indigenous peoples and economies of so-called third world countries through covert and overt methods that invariably result in the deaths of innocent civilians in genocidal proportions is terrorism on the grandest scale imaginable.

The Bush Administration was at the very least guilty of complicity regarding the 9/11 attacks as it had verified foreknowledge and warnings of what was to come. The incident fulfilled a major objective of the Bush agenda to have a new \"Pearl Harbor\" allowing him to go forward with his plans that were formulated even before he took office to invade Iraq. As a result, there were no more \"terrorist\" attacks because he didn\'t need any more.

Que Bene

To my mind the question that trumps all others in the 9/11 debate is Que Bene?
