Page 3 of 3 One is left with a stark picture of a uniform, all-white landscape dotted with indistinguishably dinner-suited, Religious Right Republican Emperor penguins practising monogamous nuclear family values in a bleak, windswept, hygienically sub-zero environment. Ellis accuses what he calls the "Cultural Left" for "destroying society", "lowering standards of behaviour", "lowering educational standards" and "making it easier for enemies of the Republic, as created by our founding fathers" to take over "and establish a different type of control similar to what has happened in Europe, England and Canada". However there is still hope and Ellis advocates "fight back" - we can boycott advertisers linked to morally compromised entertainment companies and "help shut down this propaganda mill". Further, a court has recently reinstated a cross on a war memorial and the Senate voted unanimously for US military bases to host Boy Scout events - "niches are appearing in the armor of those who are attacking American values as inherited from our past" (like the First Amendment of our founding fathers?). Ellis concludes rhetorically: "Can we win?" and declares that people must oppose the takeover of the country by the "Cultural Left" (!) entertainers (CBS? CNN? Fox? News Corporation?) "and those who wish to destroy our values through the courts (!) or through the propaganda of the entertainment world". One is reminded of the famous Stan Cross cartoon - a construction worker hangs perilously by both arms from a steel girder atop a skyscraper construction site, his trousers around his ankles and grasped by his laughing mate: "For gorsake stop laughing, this is serious!" Two Letters E-mail to MWC News Managing Editorial
Thank you very much for your e-mail; however, I do not like my columns to be used as bait for one of your far-left comrades to have the time to build an entire oped against it, even quoting words I never used or slants never implied but inferred by your writer. Please delete me from your approved list and do not include this type of action again. Respectfully, Lee Ellis ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “The deterioration of every government begins with the decay of the principles on which it was founded.” Charles-Louis De Secondat (1689-1755) Baron de Montesquieu (The Spirit of the Laws, 1748) Shahram's Reply
Dear Lee Ellis
Sorry, but your column was not touched in any way, and we have open comment policy, that includes left and right no matter how far they are.
You have stated that we are to publish your column, the date and time as you well know would be in our convenience.
If there is anything in your column that does not match the original, please inform me and I do correct that with a note of apology.
I thought you would welcome opposing view, which is the foundation of a healthy society that you've been keenly defending, having time to build a "op-ed" even if it was true (which is not, Dr. Polya saw you column only yesterday) still would project attention not malice.
Nonetheless, I could add your note of discontent if you wish.
Respectfully Shahram Vahdany
