Yeah, sure, it’s a big time, bona fide holiday, but being the last warm wet splash of summer- so bittersweet. Like the final free Continental breakfast buffet before checking out of a five- star hotel.

Organized Labor in America Today

Labor Day

Labor Day once had meaning. Workers had reason to celebrate hard won rights. No longer. The day is commemorated on the first Monday of September. It's been so since 1882.

In June 1894, it became a federal holiday. It was when workers had few rights. Management controlled things. Labor was systematically exploited.

Partisan reporters criticise Gaza coverage

I have noted in several previous articles the unusual, possibly unique, problem relating to media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The reporting corps is awash with “partisan reporters” – that is, Jews who have an ideological, social or familial connection and sympathy with one side, the Israeli side.

Kashmir 'separatists' backed by Pakistan's ISI


In calling off the Secretary level talks with Pakistan the government of India has done what virtually everyone in the country would applaud. Despite protests and flag meetings, the firing from across the border has continued without any let up. A couple of our border guards were killed and the civilian population along the border has been terrorized.
