Ron Paul may be excluded from Iowa Fox News Debate! | Print |  E-mail
By Shahram Vahdany

The Iowa Republican Party and Fox News Channel announced today plans for a Dec. 4 debate of the GOP presidential campaigns in Des Moines.

The Tuesday evening event is scheduled for Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines and comes as the race to the Jan. 3 caucuses enters its final month.

It was unclear who would attend, although only those candidates who had support of at least 5 percent of those surveyed in recent national polls or The Des Moines Register’s Iowa Poll are invited, Iowa GOP officials said.

That would include former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Arizona Sen. John McCain, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson. It could leave out U.S. Reps. Duncan Hunter of California and Tom Tancredo of Colorado.

My apology to the readers:
Paul named was suppose to be on the left out instead of Tom Tancredo of Colorado.

I doubt it
I doubt they would really make this rule. After all, Paul always wins the cell phone polls after the FOX debates quite handily. Paul has won half the straw polls nationwide. Etc. The traditional land-line phone polls are only one indicator of a candidates' potential. I doubt they'd change the rules now to favor the only indicator where Paul has been weak so far.

Ron Paul will attend the debate after becoming the money bomb. Fox News is underestimating power of Ron Paul Revolution

I doubt it
It might not matter. In the latest CNN poll released yesterday, as well as in the latest Gallup poll, Ron is at 5% in both. In the latest DesMoinesRegister poll, Ron was at 4%. (As was the case in a couple other recent Iowa polls, such as the Strategic Vision poll) And he\'s been at 3% in the Rasmussen Reports poll for a while.

I think he should be over the 5% mark in the next DesMoinesRegister poll, for sure. I suspect we\'ll see more polls with Ron at 5% nationally in the near future.

I doubt it
Their polls are all wrong and manipulated. How could a candidate raise so much money surpassing all rivals, while maintaining a pretty low per person contribution. He has such a large number of supporters wins every real time poll such as straw polls and cell polls. I bet if FOX showed us the real numbers he would be in the lead. I personally don\'t know anyone who doesn\'t plan to vote for him. I can\'t see him honestly being as low as they say. Ron Paul will win this bomb shows his support and the next money bomb will carve his victory in stone.
RON PAUL REVOLUTION!!!

misleading title...shoddy writing...it says nothing about excluding Paul in the article. Perhaps there is some wishful thinking on the writers part that Paul be excluded. The fear of Paul permeates the establishment. ?

Big mistake.
RP isn't saying things that are popular with many Republicans, but he represents an important voice in the Republican Party. His fundraising alone speaks volumes.

Bring it on! America's voice WILL BE HE
If they exclude Ron Paul from the Fox debate in Iowa, in an apparent effort to stifle his exposure. I will drive there from Illinois as I am SURE a Thousand will from all directions to support Ron Paul as we convene OUTSIDE the debate and let COMPETING news agencies get the story of the Following that Dr. Paul has that EXCEEDS that in attendance INSIDE the Debate.

I suggest they start updating the polling methodologies SOON or they will have egg on thier Face.

Dont believe me? American Voters were underestimated Before!!. Wanna try it again?

But take a look and Fox poll here and you get the point.

Nowhere Paul goes above 1% there.

And in Des Moines Register poll he has only 4%

Fox
I've defended FoxNews so many times with friends and colleagues I've lost count. If FoxNews uses highly-selective criteria to ban Paul (discount the straw polls, money raised, etc.), I will gladly join the effort to discredit FoxNews, see it banned from cable/satellite packages, boycott/pressure its advertisers.

I hope they do. It will be like when they excluded him in Iowa X 100. Last time it was over 1000 people that showed up in his support, how many do you think would show up for this, 6 months later? Since they never let him talk anyway, this would be a blessing. And I don't think they are dumb enough to not realize it. They would be saying more in his favor by excluding them, than by letting him speak. They are screwed either way.

Faux has tried their best to keep the Ron Paul message from the people or discredit it. Every time, the have egg on their face. After the money bomb, Hannity is eating a plate full of crow. So if they want to be stupid, Stupid is as stupid does.
Let the Ron Paul masses descend to campaign in mass in Iowa- it will do more good then a 1000 debabte appearances and Paul's absence will speak volumes from a news organization that has a bias perception anyway. People will laugh when they hear faux say "fair and balanced"

Problem is...
that Ron Paul needs Republican voters to hear him every chance he gets. Being excluded from the debate would be a minor footnote by the other news orgs and Fox would certainly not send a camera outside the building to show their own bias. He not only needs to be in the debate but he needs to say something to criticize an opponent that is factual and a total burn on that candidate without being cruel. That will make headlines.

Um Tancredo polls higher than Paul? I doubt it. I also doubt Huckabee does either. He can't raised 200K while Paul is raising $4M.

If Paul raising $4.2 Million in a mere 24 hours doesn't prove what a sham these polls are, I don't know what does. If FOX and the GOP are this stupid to try this, there is going to be sure Hell to pay. They will feel the wrath from Paul supporters the likes they have never felt before.

Tell every one, Don't believe or listen to the Main stream news, its mostly lies or distortions, use the internet while you can to get your facts. Fox is real worried that Dr. Paul win will this debate too and the lying corporate media can't handel another Paul win. Really fair and balenced HUH? No bias from Hannity the smuck huh? This is the biggest thing to come around for many years don't let the lying media try to derail this train. RON Paul, President 2008 we'll settle for nothing less!!!!

Fox wants him OUT
SPREAD THE WORD - WORLD RECORD RALLY OUTSIDE DEBATE IF RON PAUL EXCLUDED

I'm a little unclear if FOX
ahem "news" intends to exclude Ron Paul, but I'm certain they would like him to go away.
Sorry not gonna happen.

In the event Fox does exclude him, I for one will drive from New Hampshire and attend the
debate. Inside, outside doesn't matter...OUR country will know
one way or another.

I imagine with thousands of Ron Paul supporters in attendence outside the debate
chanting rather loudly - Ron Paul, Ron Paul the microphones inside might pick up the chant?

You get the picture - How many of us will there be outside?
1,000? 10,000? 1000,000? Sound preposterous ? So did a $4.2 million dollar day - that happened didn't it?

Can somebody look into a "fire permit"? Couldn't think of a better way to stay warm than burning dozens of SSean Hannity
pinatas in effigy!

If he is excluded everyone in the IOWA area should be outside with signs. For those of us thousands of miles away - maybe we should be outside local Fox buildings.
If we have a large enough turnout some form of press will have to report it.
My quesion is... WHATEVER happened to free press???

Destroyed by Design
The GOP is rolling over for Hillary. Ron Paul is clearly the one person of real character in the entire field, and the Big Brother lovin' press and public can't handle it. Their panic is obvious. This extent to how controlled our election process has become should be obvious to anyone with a brain. But since 9/11, most people have become spineless yes-men to corrupt power. Better that than to be accused of being unpatriotic by the fascists running the country. Such cowardice. But not so with Ron Paul. He is brave beyond the measure of the elites like Hillary, Rudy and Romney. Sellouts all. Now if only the press and public had a spine left, they'd be able to easily perceive who the hero is and who the traitors are. I doubt they will though. We've turned the corner toward despotism and I have no faith left. Still, I support Ron Paul, a great man in a time when one is so very needed.

Mr.
I hope Fox does leave Paul out. It will only help his cause and fire up his support to new heights. If they are stupid enough to think excluding him will hurt him....well lets not go there, they have already helped his campaign thru their stupidity. So to Faux news...thank you.

FOX
The more that people hear about Ron Paul the more people are for him. The question is - can the press continue to keep him out of debates and national polls.
The working person falls further and further behind economically daily. This week its rising oil and gasoline prices. Many Americans are starting to realize that we need a substantial change in the leadership of this country.
I guess more of us will shut off FOX news if we cannot hear our choices. And we will continue to speak up in online forums.
Heard a rumor that ALL 50 states are now having electronic balloting machine legality challenged. Its quite possible that they are being tampered with so our votes are not being counted. This should be reported in national press.

What we need to do is...
contact every other news organization if Ron Paul is excluded from the debate. This would be news considering his top-tier status and financial support. I wonder why other major news networks don't make it a story on their own broadcasts who Fox lies on national TV every day. Isn't that news, that another news organization is lying? Seems like it would be news and they should rip Fox a new one.

What we need to do is...
Ron Paul is so Republican it hurts!
1. He has never voted to raise taxes.

2. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

3. He voted against the Patriot Act.

4. He voted against the Iraq War.

5. He never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution.

6. He is campaigning to stop federal agencies and special interests from driving property owners from their homes.

7. He believes that imposing tax on Social Security benefits is unfair and illogical.

8. He believes that it is unconstitutional to pay taxes on our income, that our forefathers never intended private citizens' income to be taxable, and seeks to completely eliminate the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

9. He has a six-point plan for border security and immigration reform, although he believes we make illegal immigrants the scapegoat through a system we've designed to be incoherent and unjust.

10. He acknowledges that "the biggest threat to our privacy is the government."

Book hotel roomes for Ron Paul rally?
Someone with some bucks should book all of the hotel rooms in the area, for the day of the debate. Not only would this be a thorn in FOX's and the establishment's side, the rooms would be available for Ron Paul supporters for a rally on the same day. just a thought...

Ron Paul WILL be in the IOWA December 4th debate! Just confirmed live on Ron Paul Radio straight from the Iowa Ron Paul HQ offices.

So, it is CONFIRMED Ron Paul will be there, although Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter will NOT be invited. This is FRONT-RUNNERS only! More time for Dr. Paul to get his message across.

To raise interest in anything or anyone,
If he is left out we should start a movement to try to get CNN or another news group to interveiw Ron Paul. Would it not be cool if the RP show had better ratings than the debate?

They might go along with it if they thought they could get the ratings.

to comment #40: I hope you're right. Everything I've seen about NewsCorp shows that they intent to keep word about Ron Paul out of the mainstream. Hannity is banning Ron Paul discussion at his forums, and the NY Post has virtually purged any mention of the candidate (except a few blurbs in stories about Fred)

Established media is fighting hard to silence Paul but he keeps gaining momentum anyway.

That's because the republican gestapo party dosen't want Ron Paul to win the nomination.... I don't know why they go to the trouble of nomination process, why don't they put up the nominee that the Big Corps want and save them a lot of money.... That goes for the democrats too...

The democrats treated Ralph Nader the same way years back... They would not invite him to thier debates so that is why he ran as a Green Party candidate.......

It seems like a lot of people want Ron Paul and his campaign is gaining momemtum..... The republican party just might be making a big mistake......

Who knew that so many Americans have such a genuine and passionate hatred for the American constitution as to keep attacking Ron Paul like this. Why doesn't any news media explain that the national polls are wrong and skewed because they ONLY poll people with land line phones??

We are going to be free! Ron Paul is likely going to sweep the 2008 elections! Id say the probability he is the next POTUS is 90-95% now.

People are screaming FREEEDOM! like William Wallace rigt now. They are going to have to kill Ron Paul like they did JFK or RK to stop him now, and I fully expect the MSM, military industrial complex and the CFR types to go after his life because the smear tactics are backfiring!
