denial of aid | Print |  E-mail
By James Secor

Myanmar Burma's military dictatorship has, until just recently, refused to allow in all comers who wish to help with the devastation caused by Nature. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but. . .didn't George Bush, President of the United States, also refuse to accept help from other nations in the wake of Katrina? Especially Cuba?

What's the difference? Myanmar acquiesced and accepted the offers. America under George Bush prefers to let people continue to suffer (and die).

It's a wonderful world we live in.

Passive genocide by US & Burma junta
America DID need aid (especially from Cuba which has fantastic, cheap primary health care) because door knocking by soldiers on flooded homes did not commence for about 2 WEEKS after Katrina hit; humans need about 2 litres of fresh water per day at 35 degrees Centigrade; several thousand died avoidably in Louisiana in the aftermath of Katrina (see: On MWC News 1 week after Katrina hit: \"NEW ORLEANS TRAGEDY EXPOSES US RACISM & PASSIVE MASS MURDER. THE WORLD IS WATCHING\"

In mid-2008 we see the same passive mass murder policies from the Burma junta that threatens millions of devastated survivors. However we ALSO see the US Alliance (US, UK, NATO, Australia) involved in CONTINUING passive mass murder in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories (post-invasion non-violent and violent excess deaths 2 million and 3-7 million, respectively - annual per capita medical expenditure permitted by these war criminal, proto-Nazi occupiers totals $130 and $19, respectively, according to WHO)(see: Passive Genocide by Burma Junta & US Alliance. Mass Killing by US Empire & Myanmar ).

ONE IN SIX victims of the World War 2 Jewish Holocaust died of deprivation - and perpetrators of that atrocity are still being hunted down around the World. Further, people denying or minimizing the Jewish Holocaust face 10 years\' jail in Austria.

However the Mainstream media, politicians and duped citizens of the countries of the war criminal, racist, anti-Arab anti-Semitic Anglo-American-Zionist Alliance are involved in horrendous holocaust commission, genocide commission, holocaust denial and genocide denial.

Passive genocide by US & Burma junta
New Orleans is a geography that is quite unique; it sits under sea level, making it practically impossible for US federal resources to to get where they were needed when the city flooded, especially when there was not only New Orleans to deal with but, practically the entire Gulf Coast region was flooded and ravaged, making it the worst natural disaster in US history.

It was a nightmare for the people who tried to help, too. Also, the criminal elements - gangs, thugs and rapists that have long been there, rose to the opportunity loot, pillage and shoot at rescue helicopters and other rescue personnel - crime was out of control. Sadly, desperation was a factor for much of the crime.

It was a failure on all fronts, federal and local authorities tried the best they could.

I don\\\'t think it is fair at all to compare the US with the Myanmar Junta. I can never accept that. Such rationale is entirely ridiculous as well as entirely unsubstantiated - not to mention, too liberal.

Burma junta & US crimes
Obviously one cannot compare the Cyclone Nargis disaster (80,000 dead, 60,000 missing, 2.4 million destitute) with the Cyclone Katrina disaster (several thousand killed).

However one CAN compare active and passive genocide by the Burma Junta (16.6 million Burmese excess deaths since they seized power in 1962) with active and passive genocide by the US in post-1950 US Asian Wars (25 million excess deaths).

One can most definitely compare passive genocide of the evil and tardy Burma regime post-Cyclone Nargis (2.4 million at risk due to delays in aid supplies) with the horrendous, war criminal failure of the evil, racist, war criminal US Alliance (US, UK, Australia, NATO) to provide life-sustaining food and medical supplies in the Occupied Iraqi and Afghan Territories (about 56 million at risk; annual excess deaths about 160,000 and 470,000, respectively, due to US Alliance war crimes, as determined from UN data)(see\" Passive Genocide by Burma Junta & US Alliance. Mass Killing by US Empire & Myanmar .

Sincerely
I and many others outside of the USA sincerely, could not equate the post Katrina disaster shambles with the the power and might of the US. It has enormous resources, especially the armed forces. It does not appear that the authorities did their best for the citizens.
