1. 22-11-2008 08:22 Lipstick on a pig Yes, Mr. Olbermann my God and my religion dictate that I stand against homosexual \"marriage\". He tells us that homosexuality is a sin. He has destroyed entire societies for their unrepentant acceptance and practices of perversion (homosexuality, pedofilia, etc.). It is not OK to always do what makes you feel good. There are moral considerations and morality is dictated by God. In the ten commandments there are 2 commandments that address the issue of coveting - wanting something that is not yours to have. There is a commandment that dictates that it is a sin to engage in sexual intercourse outside of marriage. The very first commandment is the one that supercedes all the rest - the Lord your God is one God, and thou shalt not place any gods before of HIM. If you don\'t believe the first commandment then the remaining 9 don\'t matter - just do what feels good in this life. You WILL have the opportunity to pay in the next. You can cry your crocodile tears and boohoo for what you see as injustice, but thankfully there are still folks in CA and the USA who cherish the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman and trust that God\'s will is what is right. You are trying to mix apples and oranges to justify/legalize homosexual partnerships, but there simply are NO justifiable reasons. If homosexuality and homosexual \"marriage\" is legalized our society will be on the brink of destruction. It will just be a matter of time before it is no longer a crime to commit rape, incest, murder, steal, etc. Perhaps in your small minded, paganistic life you can cleverly try to convince others that they are impeding the rights of others. This was the job of the snake in the Garden of Eden - you remember that story don\'t you. The apple was a test. Adam and Eve succumed to the lies of satan who tempted them with stories of great power and great life. Homosexual urges are a test. Material wealth is a test. The urge to become inebriated is a test. The urge to kill/hurt someone is a test. There are many tests in this life. How we handle ourselves and our urges determine in part how we will spend the whole of eternity. God bless you with truth and insight. Guest 2. 22-11-2008 09:23 EQUALITY FOR ALL - REPEAL PROP 8 idaclairhope, Four things 1) You speak of tests as a personal thing. If the state government legislates the out come how is it a test? 2) You speak of same-sex marriage, an agreement between consenting adults, as the harbinger of "rape, incest, murder, steal etc." ALL of those acts are against a non-consenting adult. You are the one mixing apples and oranges. 3)California law is not based on the ten commandments. There is no God in our law. 4)While the bible may have something to say about homosexual sex (depending on the translation and interpretation) it never, NEVER, NOT ONCE says marriage is only between a man and a woman. It gives several examples of heterosexual marraige, but it never says that is the only option. EQUALITY FOR ALL - REPEAL PROP 8 Guest 3. 23-11-2008 19:39 Nope! idaclairhope, 1. The Bible never mentions gay marriage, not one, not ever. 2. The crime of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality according to Ezekiel and Jesus. 3. The Laws of the US are not predicated upon the Bible, the OT is not State Law nor are the 10 commandments. Government in the US is supposedly secular in nature. 4.Being a homosexual is not a test, at least, no more than being a heterosexual is. God does not play silly games. Guest 4. 25-11-2008 05:36 Bible? I do not live in the US, I suppose I am mildly homophobic, and I can't get my head around same sex marriage. OK fine, but it seems to me that one is pulling a long bow by saying the 'Ten Commandments' forbids homosexuality. The other point, is the law of the land biblical or secular? If one is convinced that the US has based its laws on the 'Good Book', then adulteress' should be stoned, unruly children can be executed,(I read that somewhere). I was under the impression that Jesus replaced 'The Law', with divine love, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...", this does not seem to have come into play among the self righteous.
