CBC's Red Pride and Prejudice
Not long ago, I would have been happy to speak out in defence of the CBC. I grew up with CBC and always considered it one of the superior broadcasters in the western world. I should also say that I have supported virtually every cause Avaaz has taken up in recent times. But I lost all inclination to defend CBC once it became clear that this once proud and independent broadcaster had sold its soul and become a shameless mouthpiece for the Beijing government, suppressing information about the persecution of Falun Gong and Tibetans, and even going so far as to serve in the role of a Beijing agent in broadcasting vicious defamatory material supplied by Beijing against the Falun Gong community in Montreal. Having witnessed that shameful spectacle, and also watched CBC click its collective heels and then koutou and grovel at the feet of the Beijing dictators in order to ensure preservation of the contract for Olympic coverage (I refer to the withdrawal and then drastic revision of the independently produced documentary “Beyond the Red Wall”), as far as I am concerned the CBC is on its own. Let it look to Beijing for support and sympathy.

1. 03-04-2009 06:22 Where did our CBC go? So sad. It really is hard to stand up for or stand along side my once beloved CBC after so many shameful acts. What happened? For what? A little money, a little air time? What happened to the integrity and the dignity of the CBC? The CBC radio won't even broadcast commercials but CBC TV will sell the very essence of who they are to the Chinese Communist Regime?! At this point it is hard not to think that they have brought all of this trouble upon themselves, which means only they can help themselves...I truly hope that they can right their wrongs and make up for the losses they have incurred and then maybe their entire livelihood wouldn't be hanging by a thread. The old CBC would be missed by many...the new CBC I believe, we would be better without. Just my thoughts. Guest 2. 03-04-2009 08:12 Where did our CBC go? Its the same with me. I used to have respect and a certain amount patriotic pride in the CBC... gone gone gone. When will people get it. The Chinese communists killed 80 million people. The highest echelons of that party were the same ones who orchestrated the massacre in Tiananmen Square and/or vicious crackdowns in other regions. Why so casually do business with such a cabal -- and why listen to or believe ANYTHING they have to say? Guest 3. 03-04-2009 13:24 Where did our CBC go? I too was a dedicated CBC listener for many years. Once when we were contemplating moving to USA and I expressed reluctance, my partner asked; "What do you have here that you couldn't have there?" and I replied; "The CBC". He thought for a moment and said; "I didn't think you could come up with any reason as good as that". Sad to say, I no longer trust the CBC. It destroyed my respect once it sided with the Chinese Communist Party. It is a great loss for Canada and Canadians. Guest 4. 04-04-2009 14:56 Where did our CBC go? I think most Canadians grew up with CBC in their homes. I am very shocked that CBC would sell out to China's communist party over human rights. They could have saved millions of people with their broadcasts by exposing the rampid persecution of Faluun Gong & Tibetians but chose to distroy them instead. I really hope they turn their self around before they go down with the CCP. Guest Write Comment
